Thanks for the reply....WELL, ideally free hunts would be the best for my very low budget.  Ive heard that there are ranch owners\farmers that even actually pay you to get the hogs off their land....now as nice as getting paid to hunt would be, thats not a big concern.  I just want to hunt!  My main goal is to get meat for my family as well as the fun of it.  I would actually LOVE to have an outfitter or guide since I have never hunted hogs before, but it all depends on the pricing.  Hope to hear more from you.  THANKS AGAIN

It was street legal when I purchased it two years ago but I have not kept the inspection or registration up since we only drive it on the ranch.  It is kept in the barn and is hardly driven.  It is in good shape, paint is great, and tires are like new.  I will take pics in the next few days and send to you. 

La Mota ranch is on the road between Hwy 281 and Benavides just east of town, I also hunt another ranch called the "Chilipitin Ranch" 13 miles northwest of San Diego and there alot of hogs over there, plus excellent dove hunting!!!

Have not seen lease rates drop much, if any, from the drought.  Rates will of course vary from ranch to ranch and depend on amenities.  I would think $10/acre on the very low end, and having a live creek could enhance that price a lot!

There are alot of ranches in West Texas that have gone in the direction of this ranch.  We have seen quite a few larger ranches subdivide up into 100 to 200 acre ranchettes in the last ten or so years.  I don't know if this is good or bad.  It can be good if there is some sort of management plan or agreement with all the landowners of these ranchettes that adjoin each other.  If not, then you could have a real problem with over hunting and a negative impact on the deer herd.
