Search Results:Need somewhere near Austin for first time hog hunter.....Summary:
Thanks for the reply....WELL, ideally free hunts would be the best for my very low budget. Ive heard that there are ranch owners\farmers that even actually pay you to get the hogs off their land....now as nice as getting paid to hunt would be, thats not a big concern. I just want to hunt! My main goal is to get meat for my family as well as the fun of it. I would actually LOVE to have an outfitter or guide since I have never hunted hogs before, but it all depends on the pricing. Hope to hear more from you. THANKS AGAIN DAN jeep for saleSummary:
It was street legal when I purchased it two years ago but I have not kept the inspection or registration up since we only drive it on the ranch. It is kept in the barn and is hardly driven. It is in good shape, paint is great, and tires are like new. I will take pics in the next few days and send to you. 212 B/C Buck
Summary:
A deer that big up there wouldn't surprise me, though I hadn't heard about it. After having lived east of Guthrie for a couple years it wouldn't surprise me either if he DIDN'T feed protein at all. There are some simply amazing bucks along that part of the Brazos, a number of them non-typicals. But, the typicals aren't bad either...one friend of mine took a 150 B&C 10 point from up there, another (who doesn't hunt) let his grandson shoot a 155+ 12 point from the same area. There's almost always a boomer or two from Knox or King counties in the TPWD awards. Of number of large ranches with low hunting pressure, not to mention a one buck limit, is a good recipie for big bucks. By the way, the only JY Ranch I know up there is run by the Masterson family. maybe Mike is a relative. There also used to be a Mike Gibson that ran the 6666 for awhile, another real big ranch in the area. The guy who'd know on this site is Randy Hollar...he's from near there. NEW February Specials Paint Mare Ranch, West TexasSummary:
There are alot of ranches in West Texas that have gone in the direction of this ranch. We have seen quite a few larger ranches subdivide up into 100 to 200 acre ranchettes in the last ten or so years. I don't know if this is good or bad. It can be good if there is some sort of management plan or agreement with all the landowners of these ranchettes that adjoin each other. If not, then you could have a real problem with over hunting and a negative impact on the deer herd. 2645 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
