Search Results:Need somewhere near Austin for first time hog hunter.....Summary:
Thanks for the reply....WELL, ideally free hunts would be the best for my very low budget. Ive heard that there are ranch owners\farmers that even actually pay you to get the hogs off their land....now as nice as getting paid to hunt would be, thats not a big concern. I just want to hunt! My main goal is to get meat for my family as well as the fun of it. I would actually LOVE to have an outfitter or guide since I have never hunted hogs before, but it all depends on the pricing. Hope to hear more from you. THANKS AGAIN DAN Homer Martin Ranch for hogs??Summary:
Hey Kev, My good friend and I have been bowhunting (deer) there for years. I love the place. But, I don't think this is a great place to plan a hog hunt. He does have some , but not many. The only ones I've seen are right at dark or at night, and only on one part of the place (the river pasture). I didn't see a single hog this year in two trips. There are just not that many there. You may want to check with Maurice Chambers at brush country bowhunting near Sabinal Tx. Have been there 3 times a few years back and the hogs run the roads when he corns the roads. It's a high fence place, but hogs were abundant there. DV
