Search Results:Public Quail???Summary:
Good luck. Quail are way down everywhere. We feed them and don't hunt them (although we can) because there are so few. Last year saw only 2-3 covies. We are in Crockett county, used to be wonderfull quail hunting not now. We have been doing some varment hunting and have discovered a real problem. Not so many wild varments, BUT we have a large amount of farel house cats. They will turn a covey of quail into nothing very fast, so if you see one on your place---TAKE HIM OUT !!!! Public Quail????????????Summary:
Howdy! There are a few public land areas in the Panhandle along with West and South Texas that offer quail hunting. Matador WMA in Cottle county is one area and several more. However, some WMA in Texas will say they offer quail hunting, but you would be hard pressed to find one quail. I would contact the wildlife biologist for the area you want to hunt and get advice. The quail population seems to go up and down depending on the rain and other habitat issues. You will need to get an APH permit along with your hunting license to use most of the public hunt areas. Good LUck! Always, Gene
Bob White quailSummary:
Actually, across Texas the quail numbers have been down due to the bad drought we had the past couple of years, I know where we hunt in South Texas, the ranch was full of coveys, the past couple of trips to the ranch I did not even flush, hear or see a single quail. Maybe the birds you see recently are young birds who are the product of good rains that have fallen this fall. < Previous Page 1461 results found Next Page >Showing results 11 through 20
