EL POTRILLO RANCH McMullen Co., Texas
This 3000 ac. ranch is located approximately 7 miles north of Tilden, in McMullen County, and about 70 miles south of San Antonio on State Highway 16 in the heart of the South Texas Brush Country. The native South Texas brush makes this a haven for Whitetail deer, Javelina, Feral hogs, quail, dove, and varmints. The ranch is divided into 6 pastures and has 8 ponds. Cattle are run on the ranch, but no sheep or goats. The ranch comes with 14 rifle blinds, 9 feeders, 2 bow blinds, and 3 tripods already set up and can be used by the season deer hunters. There are numerous roads and senderos across the ranch The rustic but roomy hunting camp comes with hot and cold running water, a bathroom with a shower, window A/Cs, large covered patio with picnic tables, a rock fire ring, and a jeep shed. It comfortably sleeps 15 hunters in bunk beds, but could sleep 18. To help handle your game there is a lighted game pole, small game cleaning station, and a walk-in-cooler. The kitchen has a cook stove, two refrigerators, coffee pots, microwave, toaster oven, pots and pans, and lots of counter top space. The camp area has a rifle range and clay shooting area. Two electrical hook ups for travel trailers have been installed. I suggest that you bring bottled water for cooking and drinking. The ranch water comes from a water well located a mile from camp and must be pumped to storage at the camp. Terms: $45,000.00 for a season lease, beginning October 1 though the end of the general deer season, year round access by appointment. A maximum of 10 hunters with guest privileges. A limit of 10 mature bucks, 10 spikes, and 10 does. All the hogs that you want to take with bow or rifle, but no traps. Three payments available upon request. Option to renew year to year. I will book dove hunts in September and doe, hog, quail, and spring turkey hunts after the general deer season. I will need to use all blinds and feeders and would keep corn in them from Jan 20 - April 1. I will be using the camp facilities during this time. Texas WildSummary:
FOWLERTON LaSalle County
This small 150 acre place borders an 18,000 acre ranch, to the south and east, and lies in the Golden Triangle of South Texas. It is about 2 mile west of Fowlerton, on the south size of State Highway 97, about ¼ mile west of Seven Mile Creek. It boasts plenty of Whitetail Deer and feral hogs. It was not hunted at all for 2000-2005. For the past four seasons my guides and I have hunted it taking one 12 point, two 10 point, numerous spikes, a few does, and numerous hogs each season. We have let a number of 2, 3, and 4 year old, 8 and 10 point deer walk. With an aggressive feeding program, and continued heard management this lease is prime for the harvest of some nice deer. It is common to see 15-20 deer each hunt with 6-7 bucks. During the rut we would see deer that we had not seen before. Included with this lease is the use of two blinds and two custom built low profile feeders already set and in use. One of the blinds is a custom built double wide. This lease has electricity at a camp site area, but no running water. I have a small cabin located on the property that I will sell, or you can bring your travel trailer. I have kept feed in both feeders for hog hunting during the off season and will continue to do so until Sept 16. With all the positive things going for this lease I must point out a negative. There is a 10 acre out tract within the fenced area that is hunted by unknown others. We never had a problem with them and they access the property thru the neighbor, not us. They showed up only one weekend last season. Price for two hunters is $5,000, or for three hunters is $6,000. 1/3 is due with signing of lease, 1/3 by June 1, and 1/3 no later than Sept 1. Each hunter will be allowed to harvest one mature buck, two spikes, and two doe each. Dove, quail, varmints, and all the hogs you want to shoot are included. Lease would be from Sept 16- January 16.
