Hi Jonathan and welcome! I've been told LBJ Grasslands is probably the best place near Dallas to hunt for turkey, as several of the guys that visit this board have done so. But, since Texas doesn't have a lot of public land (90+% of Texas is privately owned) the hunting can be a challenge. Texas Parks and Wildlife also has draw hunts, but these may be too far for you to travel. old sabine bottom wmaSummary:
It's one of the better public land spots, definitely need to spot and stalk - you would be wasting your time posting. The ATV side gets a lot of traffic from both the hog hunters and duck hunters, although, like anything else, if you're willing to walk further than the crowds you can find some "less" pressured hogs. They move around alot on the property so try to concentrate around the bamboo patches and along the river sleuths. Use satelitte imagery to plan your hunt and be sure to hunt into the wind, or you will be wasting your time. Good luck Where Will You Be Hunting This Weekend?Summary:
Sadly, I'm in the same boat... unemployed since April 15, 2011 and don't know if I will be able to purchase a hunting license along with the Public Hunting Permit to take advantage of the Sam Houston National Forest. I will be able to purchase a hunting license and have a friend who lives in Brady, Tx and has 50 acres with deer feeders set up and feeding all year long. I know the fuel costs to get there and back will exceed the cost of a Public Hunting Permit, but I am guaranteed a full freezer of venison for making the trip to see him. My wife and I usually celebrate Thanksgiving with him and his wife and so I'll give up the opportunity to hunt in the forest (for squirrels after deer season) to make sure I have venison in the freezer to feed the family. Selling AMSOIL helps, but doesn't provide near enough to replace a full time job (yet). I'm Voting Republican Because!Summary:
Yawn...once again you have misquoted someone and misrepresented the context of what Roosevelt said - avery popular liberal tactic. Here's the entire quote: "Our aim is not to do away with corporations; on the contrary, these big aggregations are an inevitable development of modern industrialism, and the effort to destroy them would be futile unless accomplished in ways that would work the utmost mischief to the entire body politic. We can do nothing of good in the way of regulating and supervising these corporations until we fix clearly in our minds that we are not attacking the corporations, but endeavoring to do away with any evil in them. We are not hostile to them; we are merely determined that they shall be so handled as to serve the public good. We draw the line against misconduct, not against wealth." The point was back in those days workers had a fraction of the rights they have today, were paid a fraction of what they're paid today (even in 1902 dollars when he made the speech), and worked many more hours than they do today. So, in that context I, or any one else with half a brain, would heartily agree with what he was saying, NOT the liberal/marist drivel we are being fed today. Remember Gman, just because its out on the web somewwhere doesn't make it factual....that is if you're really interested in facts, which I ddoubt. 2206 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
