Bass Champs kicked off the first of five events for their Central Region anglers January 28, 2012 on lake LBJ. Twenty one teams were awarded checks in this 105% payback event, but Lance Dillard and Lee Beuershausen were the big winners, taking home more than $25,000.

On Dec. 5, the NRA filed its opening appellate brief on behalf of several law-abiding young adults challenging the federal ban on dealer sales of handguns and handgun ammunition to persons between the ages of 18 and 20. The case is Jennings v. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and will be heard in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. (A similar case challenging Texas' age limit of 21 for issuance of concealed handgun licenses remains pending in the trial court.)

Recently, the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance® (ADWA) teamed up with outdoor television host Todd Cast and Cast of Dreams to fulfill the wishes of 13-year-old Jonathan Beach, a cystic fibrosis patient who's big dream was to hunt. The story of that very special event airs next week on TNT Outdoor Explosion, and ADWA urges all sportsmen to watch.

There was a lot on the line for anglers as Bass Champs wrapped up the East Region tour on June 18 at Umphrey Family Pavilion on Sam Rayburn. Over $47,000 in paybacks to anglers, final points standings for the winners of the Anglers of the Year race, and qualifying to not one, but four championships later this fall.

No matter what we did, it seemed like we couldn’t go wrong!” They won the guaranteed 1st place purse of $20,000 in this incredible 109% payback event.

In a near-perfect performance, Sarah Scherer (Fort Worth, Texas) claimed the gold medal in Women's 10m Air Rifle at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Korea.
