Summary:

DISCOUNTED BIG BULLS FOR THE TAKING-HUNT-MULTIPLE SEASONS-GET A WALL HANGER

ID Number: CO-Elk-Rifle-Estes-Scott-Guided-Regular

Spots are open for two bow hunters with two preference points each or the hunters can buy a landowner voucher. Late September hunting is fantastic here because of the high bull-to-cow ratio, and the hunt can become a bugling frenzy.

Also for GMU 020 there are two rifle hunting positions for each of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons. The first applicant gets his pick of which season they would like to hunt until the spots are filled.

Keep in mind that the first season takes three preference points while the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th season requires only two preference points.  Landowner vouchers/tags are also available.

Hunting Location: Unit 20-Estes Park

Length of Hunt: 5 days: Season Dates:  1st Season 10/10-10/14/10 (5 day hunt)

Length of Hunt: 6 days: Season Dates:  2nd Season 10/17-10/22/10

Length of Hunt: 6 days: Season Dates:  3rd Season 10/31-11/05/10

Length of Hunt: 5 days: Season Dates:  4st Season 11/11-11/15/10

Animals: Bull Elk

Level of Guiding: Guided

Lodging: Lodging and meals provided in cabins

Mode of travel: Four wheel drive, ATV, walking

Cost: $5250 plus a $1000 harvest fee discounted to $4250 plus a $1000 harvest fee.

Terms: $2125 deposit and with the balance due 30 days prior to opening day of the season.

The main draw is April 7, but there is a mid-August draw for left over tags, and the outfitter has a few vouchers for sale.

Trophy bull elk hunt in the famous GMU 020 bordered on one side by Rocky Mountain National Forest where huge bulls live. They leave the park when the January weather pushes them down to lower elevations.  Some monsters have come from this hunting unit with many mature bulls in the 5 year-old + category. Because of the trophy potential of the resident bulls it takes preference points to draw or willingness to buy a voucher for $500 to $1000. This outfitter has hunted for many years in this area just outside the Park. He is an expert at finding big bulls that are solitary or in bachelor herds during this time of year. If you want a trophy bull you’ll see many of them on this hunt. The herd genetics in this area have produced some monsters in the past for this outfitter. You will be hunting National Forest and private ranches, and you will hunt with a guide at all times.
