PRIMAL VANTAGE HAS EXPANDED ITS RECALL of plastic tree steps due to a fall hazard.  The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the Ameristep, announced on October 27, 2010, a voluntary recall of the Ameristep Plastic Strap-On Tree Step.  Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Remington: Under Fire

Last night, CNBC aired a documentary called "Remington: Under Fire" an hour-long news piece purporting to show that Remington's venerable 700 series rifle had been unsafe since its introduction nearly six decades ago. Further, the program charged that Remington had not only known of the problem since the rifle's introduction, it had knowingly avoided fixing the problem.

Hunter Access Helped by Congressional Legislation

Two pieces of federal legislation will enhance hunting, fishing and recreational activities on federally managed land. On July 30, the U.S. House of Representatives passed, by an overwhelming 404-1 vote, a pro-sportsmen amendment to House Resolution 3534. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senator Max Baucus (D- MT) also introduced a draft of legislation on July 28 aimed at dealing with the aftermath of the BP oil spill. Included in that bill is similar language that also earmarks 1.5 percent of the LWCF for securing public access to hunting, fishing, shooting, and other outdoor recreation.
