This week Benelli On Assignment (BOA) host, Joe Coogan and Benelli USA VP of Marketing and Communications, Stephen McKelvain take on the challenge of finding big Rio Grande "long beards." They travel to the South Texas brush county of Sarco Creek Ranch, near the historic town of Goliad, Texas.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation’s (USSAF) signature outdoor education program for American youth, the Trailblazer Adventure Program, is preparing to reach a major milestone on October 2 with its one millionth participant attending an event. 

The National Wild Turkey Federation has hired Gene Miller of Canyon, Texas, as its new regional biologist.  Miller will oversee projects pertaining to conserving wild turkeys and other wildlife and preserving our hunting heritage in Oklahoma and western Texas. 

As the disastrous Deepwater Horizon oil spill spreads along the Gulf Coast and threatens to cause lasting damage to land, water and wildlife resources, conservationists have the opportunity to help.

To advance its mission of promoting wildlife conservation and preserving our hunting heritage, the National Wild Turkey Federation distributed nearly $937,000 during the first quarter of 2010 to states and programs through the NWTF Hunting Heritage Super Fund.

Cody Hatfield, a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden stationed in Mason, has been named Texas Wildlife Officer of the Year by the National Wild Turkey Federation.

The National Wild Turkey Federation's Wheelin' Sportsmen NWTF outreach program is full of selfless volunteers who spend their time ensuring that outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and shooting are available to people with disabilities.

On February 5, Brenda Valentine will be the speaker for the National Wild Turkey Federation's April A.W.O.L. Chapter banquet in Nacogdoches, Texas. An NWTF National Spokesperson, host of "Turkey Call" on the Pursuit Channel and co-host of Bass Pro Shop's "Real Hunting TV", Valentine travels the country proclaiming her love for the outdoors and support of the NWTF.

The Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), the governing body for the sport of Speed Shooting and organizer of the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships, announced that Tammy Mowry, a veteran of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), has been named Steel Challenge Sponsor Coordinator.
