Sort your results:Existing Search Criteria:Refine Your Search:Search Results:Here We Go AgainSummary: Got this from a friend today concerning an alert he got along with information on his NRA membership renewal. Look at some of the things Obama is doing that we're not hearing (again) from the press. No surprise. Get ready for another assault on our second amendment rights - can't tell you whe...
Where to shoot with grandsonSummary:
You may already have this, but here's a link for the NRA-affiliated gun ranges in Texas. Saw one close to you in Conroe, as well as others in Spring and Livingston. The one in Spring is Carter's Country, which I understand is a pretty big operation. NRA affiliation is not guarantee that the range will work for you, but at least its a start. Hope this helps - let us know how things turn out. Ted Nugent could be the NRA's rambunctious new Charlton HestonSummary:
Ted Nugent has a lot of good things to say, never lacks the courage to say them (although he is out of line on several issues), and is comfortable as a frontman. However, I'm afraid if elected president he will act as a lightning rod and bring unnecessary strife the NRA's way...and they have enough to deal with on real issues as it is. It would be nice to have someone that brings a little more statesmanship. Heston was that kind of man - he didn't mind standing when he was right and he didn't mince words when he needed to. However, he did it with a class that Ted just doesn't have. Frankly it will be hard to replace Heston. Tom Selleck is good, but he's not as comfortable in front of the lights. Whoever they get can not shun that side of the office. everyone should read this/this is scary.....because it is trueSummary:
Rodney, I agree that Congress has to have a 2/3rds majority to remove or add a Constitutional amendment. That's not the point - there are other ways to nullify the 2nd Amendment. All you have to do judicially is say that it does not apply to individual citizens, just whatever definition of 'militia' you choose and off you go. Legal precedent will follow after legal precedent until the 2nd amendment becomes relegated to obscurity. Legislatively you ratify a treaty that bans weapons...the Constitution contains a provision, as I understand it, where ratified treaties supercede laws pertaining to the subject matter in the treaty. As well, laws like I've mentioned before chip away and the intent of the 2nd amendment until it suffers the same fate by the 'death of a thousand cuts'. I think Schumer coined that phrase, but not sure. Including international law as precedents in Supreme Court opinions accomplishes the same thing. I can give you a link concerning the above if you want to learn more, but all you have to do is go to the NRA or similar website and that's all covered, with more quotes and supporting evidence that I can provide off-the-cuff. As far as McCain is concerned, on the 2nd amendment he is not much better. I don't support McCain. Priced right out of huntingSummary:
Hardy, I do understand your concern about some of these hunter numbers we keep seeing...but, I see too many consistencies for this to be a 'manufactured' statistic. The average hunter age has been increasing (per NRA its well over 50 now), numbers are decreasing in most parts of the country, hunter license applications are at best staying steady (like in TX) but decreasing elsewhere. My personal experiences support this as well. Growing-up in another state in the '70s hunting used to be so popular that just about my entire hometown shut down first day of rifle season: schools, offices, you name it. We lived next to a large national forest and with the few paved roads that gave access you just about had to parallel park opening morning. In fact, if someone got a wallhanger you usually saw it on the local paper's front page the next day. But, things are decidedly different today - hunter numbers have decreased substantially. Plus, after implementation of a QDM plan several years ago hunters are now faced with dramatically lower deer numbers to boot. In that part of the country those that still hunt are very concerned because of the potential threats they see from changing demographics and increased urbanization...and what that might do to embolden the passing of restrictive hunting or gun control regulations. The schools still close, there's less hunting pressure, and the deer have bigger racks...but even with all that those folks still see smoke on the horizon. 2nd Amendment Case Under Review in the Supreme CourtSummary: For those of you who haven't already heard, the SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) will soon hear an appeal to a lower Court decision concerning the DC handgun ban. Believe it or not, the Bush Administration Solicitor General wrote a brief against the lower court's findings that the gun b...
Huckabee - Has my Vote I hope He can get YoursSummary:
I like Huckabee on a number of issues...but, my problem with him is on 2 fronts. First, based on some of the statements he has made he is weak on border security and immigration. Second, he has had a history of increased government spending...with us getting money from China to help pay our national debt that becomes a big issue. I can also give you some links supporting the claim that he has damaged the conservative cause in Arkansas. As much as I'd like to like Mike, I'm not sure he's the guy we want for these reasons. But, I'm open. I do agree with you on the election. In my opinion, for what its worth, this is one of the most important elections in at least recent American history. For that reason we'd better be very, very careful who we choose. And, the 'best of the worst' is not always what's best. Maybe huckabee is that guy - but like I said before I'm not sure. But, from a hunter's perspective if you look at Romney's, Guliani's, and McCain's historical comments (not what they're saying now) there are some gaping holes in their understanding of the Second Amendment, and generally their voting records show it. Guliani shows-up at an NRA meeting and talks with his wife while he's on the podium...what does THAT demonstrate? Besides, I have some REAL issues with these 3 guys on other things. 19 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
