DoDaBlu Charters

Summary:

Capt. Derwyn is a scam artist. I paid his wife in full $550, even though she said that I only needed to pay the deposit of $100. The night before my trip, the Capt finally returned my call (I had left several messages at this point with many questions about my trip, q's about the BP oil spill, etc). He stated he would refund my money if I wanted to cancel, so I talked with my other passengers and they all agreed that we should go on another vessel that had a Capt. that was truthful about the location and hours of fishing. WHEN I DID CANCEL HE REFUSED TO GIVE MY MONEY BACK TO ME! He kept $250, instead of his normal $100 deposit. What a rip-off!!!

This Capt. was shorting me (A) 2 hours compared to other fishing charters in the area (B) He lied about location and knew I wanted to fish out of Galveston and HE IS ONE HOUR AWAY from our ideal destination, (C) He kept $250 after I paid in full and he said he would refund my money, and (D) HE WAS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL yelling at me on the phone. I was shaking when I ended the call. How DARE him!

J.D. Cox Ranch

Summary:

Gearing up for this years hunting season!  I came across these reviews of JD Cox Hunting Ranch and was really surprised.  I don’t usually take time to do things like reviews but wanted to put in our experience (my wife and I) because it doesn't even sound like the same place.

My wife and I went on our hunt in Nov 2009.  We did not get to hunt last yr but this year my plans will be to head back to JD’s.  We hunted together in the same blind which helped on the total overall expense of our trip.  JD gave us a double blind which had plenty of room for both of us. We went out morning and night and saw deer on every hunt.  We finished up our hunt by shooting an 8 pointer on the morning of the 3rd day.

We had a room with a kitchenette, & 4 bunks.  Nothing fancy but it was comfortable and FREE.  We didn't have to always stay in our room because outside was a covered area with tables, bbq pits even a TV.

We found JD to be friendly and very willing to help us anyway he could.

Summary:

Hunted hogs with J Pat in March 2003. Only had one night to hunt while on a family vacation. Took a nice boar and could have taken more. These guys have a great camp, accommodations, and bring some great hospitality! Looking forward to a return trip when I have more time. Written by: Geoff Marcks, marcksg@yahoo.com

Wild Hog Hunt

Summary:

Just got back from paul's ranch. We had a great time and saw and shot many hogs. The staff was awsome and the food was great. We saw about 50 hogs a day when walking around, hunting at night we saw a few hogs and it was slow , but alot of fun. varmint hunting is very difficult in general and not recomened at this place. we saw a skunk but did not have enough time to put a good effort into hunting varmints.  The best time to hunt this place at night is from midnight to daylight. We saw a giant hog at night but it would not come into bow range. we shot 6 hogs and all were around 150 pounds. there were 11 people total hunting the ranch at one time which i thought would be way to many but it was just fine. Everyone shot hogs. The only complaints that we had were that they charge to put your meat into a cooler and when they do it is just frozen into a big block. when you have them cut up your hog stand there and put the meat into bags before it go's into the cooler. when they debone your animal they don't do a very good job, the meat is left with dirt and hair on it. Paul? who is this guy? Is he made up? You would think the owner of the ranch would stop and thank a guy for hunting on his ranch, the guy is no where to be found. There are no other ranches like he says there are. There is only one and it is about 320 acers. Other than that it was a great time.

Texas Offshore Adventures

Texas Offshore Adventures
Summary:

BEWARE: THIS GUYS REALLY STINK.  WE BOOKED A OVERNIGHT TRIP AND DIDN'T CATCH ANYTHING BUT A COUPLE EAZY PICKINGS A.J.'S.  THE CAPTAIN (i'M REALLY PUSHING IT HERE, HE SHOULD BE THE FRY GUY AT MCDONALDS)  AND DECKHAND (SIMPLETON WITH CROSSED EYES, TOUCH OF DOWNS SYNDROME) DIDN'T EVEN TRY.  WE ARRIVED AT THE BEACHHOUSE AND THE BACKWARD ASS COUNTRY F&*@$ TOLD US TO WAIT, THEY WERE GOING TO GO EAT! TOOK US OUT TO BOOMVANG, AND WENT TO SLEEP.  THE LAZY HALF-WIT DECKHAND CURLED UP IN THE FLOOR OF THE BOAT AND THE INBRED LOOKING CAPTAIN LAYED DOWN ACROSS THE LEANING POST, LEAVING US THERE ALL NIGHT WITH NO FISH.  TALKING TO THESE FOOLS, I REALIZED THEY WERE EITHER RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS OR FRAUDS, TURNS OUT THEY WERE FRAUDS; UNKNOWLEDGEABLE KIDS WITH NO EXPERIENCE.  AT DAYBREAK THESE RETARDS RAN FULL THROTTLE BACK TO FREEPORT, NEVER DROPPED A BAIT, TROLLED, OR ANYTHING. TOTAL RIP OFF.  MY IMPRESSION WAS A RICH KID BOUGHT THE BOAT AND STARTED THIS BUSINESS, AND CHARTERS IT TO WHATEVER FOOL MIGHT HAPPEN ALONG.  I'M LEAVING THIS POST TO WARN OTHERS, AS I WISH I HAD BEEN WARNED.  ANY QUESTIONS: EL_PESCADORE@HOTMAIL.COM
