Summary:
i have found out that when they are spawning in march its best to fish during the day with the full moon and last quarter. then at night with the other moon fazes. i hit them hard for a whole week straight during the last quarter moon at the first of the month then the full moon a couple of weeks later for another whole week. every time i caught fish id mark it on my calender at work and got to looking and saw the moon phases when i was doing good. so we'll see next year if the same holds true??? New to the Paint Mare RanchSummary:
Hello Cody, I guess you could call us neighbors. Me and my buddy own the tract in the draw behind you that is in Myers Canyon tract 59. You must have bought you tract from the Salomon's. I know they had it up for sale. They told me that they killed alot of deer on that tract of land. We have owned our property little over a year. I saw 1 mule deer last year and the owner of tract 7 shot a big mulie last year. There are more whitetail than mulies out there. This year there seems to be alot more hunters than last year and the bucks are pretty much moving at night. We had our chance on opening day by catching them off guard. Missed a 10 and 8 pointer. The only issue that I have is that the Game Warden goes by almost every weekend we our there checking the camp site which you would think after a year he would get to know you. Also last weekend Border Patrol was out flying there helicopter down the draw and in Myers Canyon for a few hours which really ruined our weekend hunt so we packed up and left early on Saturday other than that there are some good size bucks roaming around just have to be lucky. Last year we shot a 10 pointer and a 14 pointer (3 - legged). Should be pictures on Texas Hunt and Fish. Good Luck.
Did I miss the Rut in NE Texas?Summary:
I haven't seen much rut activity in Cass or Bowie counties. Not a lot of scraps or rubs this year. Of course this is on public land where there is more pressure on the deer.Seen a nice buck the 6 of november. He would not respond to any thing I did to make him stop and look at me. He was in "love", following a doe. With the moon waxing, it seems to me the deer are moving at night more. The full moon will be the 21st. After that I hope they will start moving more in daylight hours. The deer followed this same pattern in october.According to Field & Stream the 21st. is The Day. IMO the rut is slowing down to where the deer arent "crazy". Im starting to get groups of does on cameras again.Good Luck. A Ruined HuntSummary:
My dad had the same problem a few years ago, on his lease no less. They had hunted this place for 3-4yrs and on the day before opening day the owner and some friends came out with dogs and spent the night chassing varments. This happened for a week and dad and some of the other hunters asked the owner not to hunt at night as the dogs ran EVERYTHING out of the lease. The land owner was NOT nice at all and told them to get off of his property with no refund. Archery questionsSummary:
Notice what Ballpeen Bob said: I got my PSE Bowmadness in July, almost wore out a new winners choice string in 3 months, but I bagged a buck already! A good bow is great to have but Practice, Practice, Practice. Ol' Bob put in the time to get good and it doesn't happen over night. Good luck and let us know what you end up with. PSE, Hoyt, Mathews, Missiion, etc. they are all great bows you just need it to fit your draw length and draw wt. Start low and work your way up in draw weight. Your in for a "whole nuther world in Bowhunting". One of the best experiences in my life. Every animal taken with my bow is a trophy. Good luck. < Previous Page 1761 results found Next Page >Showing results 11 through 20
