Most people are unaware of the fact that elk were originally native to an open plain habitat. Human encroachment forced them to mountainous terrain.

I know that Tennessee re-introduced elk into the wild several years ago. I am not sure how that project is working out.

Remember that there are plenty of "high fence" places that don't have these genetic freaks as well.  Just well managed native bucks.

There are big deer in Texas that are not in deer pens!  Heart Attack is one of them.  He was born on Hidden Valley Ranch outside of Hondo, TX.  He was captured by helicopter for the purpose of serving as a DMP breeder buck.  The DMP is a wonderful Texas Parks and Wildlife permit that encourages private landowners to protect their best bucks on a property and expands their genetic influence on the WILD deer herd.
