Governor Rick Perry has signed Senate Bill 18 into law, providing new and meaningful protections for Texas landowners against eminent domain abuse.

TWA is actively working several bills in the Texas Legislature relating to deer, deer management permits, and the deer breeding industry.

Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst and State Comptroller Susan Combs have both confirmed they will attend and speak at the Feb. 14 evening reception of Boots on the Ground in Austin. This is great news!  You need to be there, too, to ensure that TWA's policy positions are articulated and promoted effectively at the Texas Legislature.

This past weekend was the Texas Youth Hunting Program’s (TYHP) largest single weekend, which coincided with the state’s January Youth Only Hunting Season. TYHP conducted 10 hunts around the state that included camping in the Panhandle. These hunts accommodated some 175 hunters, along with numerous siblings and family members.

The Texas Wildlife Association has established its legislative priorities for the 82nd Legislature. The list, approved by the TWA Executive Committee, provides the organization direction on the legislative priorities it seeks to accomplish this session.

From the perspective of the Texas Wildlife Association and its members, the "Death Tax" is one of the largest causes of habitat fragmentation in the nation.  The tax not only threatens the agriculture industry, it threatens the very landscape that provides air, water, and home to our treasured wildlife.
