The Christo Kaiser Conservation Award is the most prestigious conservation award offered by SCI Austin.  The award is presented annually to individual(s) that have made an exemplary contribution for conservation and education to wildlife and related natural resources.

Twenty new state game wardens soon will be taking to the field following their completion of seven months of training at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Warden Training Center in Hamilton County.

Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst and State Comptroller Susan Combs have both confirmed they will attend and speak at the Feb. 14 evening reception of Boots on the Ground in Austin. This is great news!  You need to be there, too, to ensure that TWA's policy positions are articulated and promoted effectively at the Texas Legislature.

Speaker of the Texas House Joe Straus has confirmed he will join Texas Wildlife Association members and supporters in Austin on February 15 as part of the TWA Boots on the Ground event, Feb. 14-15.

The Texas Wildlife Association has established its legislative priorities for the 82nd Legislature. The list, approved by the TWA Executive Committee, provides the organization direction on the legislative priorities it seeks to accomplish this session.

It has come to my attention that we actually have two female hunters in the membership of SCI Austin who are competing in the "Extreme Huntress Contest".  The fastest growing segment of the hunting world is women.  Our sport and the conservation of our natural resources are all the richer for their participation.
