Advice to Lion Hunters - practice shooting first

Advice to Lion Hunters - practice shooting first
Summary:

I don't know the facts behind this video clip. I have been told it was a "canned" hunt in Africa. It went wrong. Lucky no one was seriously injured and the Guide saved the day.

Bow Hunting Lion in Africa!

Bow Hunting Lion in Africa!
Summary:

There is NO WAY he could get that close to a wild lion...it would have tried to charge him...The lion may have been snared and couldn't have moved, but then it would been strugling to get away...it also could have been used to humans, so it saw no reason to run away...either way...this may be a canned hunt...it just seems too staged to me...you simply just can't get that close to a lion in the wild...period.

On another note, definitely hit the vitals...you can hear the lion growling and then starts to gurgle..he basicly drowns in his own blood...internal bleeding...lungs filling with blood...harsh way to go....

Lion Kill Last Year

Summary:

There is another one that made the email rounds a while back, that makes ya cheer for the lion. This one is seems real.... bet the old boy had to change drawers!

South Texas Whitetail Waste

South Texas Whitetail Waste
Summary:
This buck was filmed on The Berry Ranch near Dilley in January 2006. It was found dead, killed by predators (coyotes or mountain lion) two weeks after the season was over.  Cryin' shame.  He didn't look more than 3.5-4.5 YO to me.

Lion Kill

Lion Kill
Summary:

This was Richard's kill. Most of the shots are through brush and you must aim carefully to keep the shot within the few holes. Another problem is being sure that you are shooting the "right" animal. This becomes even more important after you have already hit one!

Unfortunately, I flinched at the shot as you can tell by the camera gyrations. Next time I will clamp it to a limb or use a tripod! Pictures of this lion are in the photo gallery under "Richard's Lion".

Mountain Lion Hunting

Mountain Lion Hunting
Summary:

These guys get deathly close to an 8 foot record Mountain Lion in Nevada with Mosquito Valley Outfitters. The shot is at a distance of 1.5 feet. The  muzzleloader did it's job and the record book Lion only made it 20 yards.

In slow motion you can see just how insanely close they are.  Talk about adrenaline pumping.

Summary: This will get your heart pumping.  Deer Hunter rattles in a cougar!

Mountain Lion Hunt Video with Jason Parrish

Mountain Lion Hunt Video with Jason Parrish
Summary:

This trip is one of the most memorable, exciting, and beautiful experiences I have had in the outdoors. There were so many things to experience: mountains, snow, elk, elevation, tracking, watching the dogs work, learning from the guides, and more. The more I thought about writing a Journal Entry, the more I realized that it would be 10 pages so I might as well just show the video and let it tell the story.

The Outfitter was Mark V Outfitters, Robert Roll. CLICK HERE to learn more about his operations.

The Head Guide was Freddie Seeds, who is also the Fire Chief at Los Alamos Labs. Knowing that you have an EMT with you on a Mountain Lion Hunt in the wilderness is comforting.

They also run Black Bear, Elk, Pronghorn, and Bison hunts.

Elk Hunting in NM we saw Turkey almost every day

Elk Hunting in NM we saw Turkey almost every day
Summary: I was surprised - only because of my ignorance - to see wild turkey running around almost every day in Costilla, New Mexico, during our Elk Hunt. We are driving at 9000 ft. elevation, after one of the first snow storms of the season, and we must have seen four different groups of wild turkey. Apparently, because of the quality elk, bear, mule, and mountain lion, people don't really talk about turkey hunting in these parts.
