Hi Jonathan and welcome! I've been told LBJ Grasslands is probably the best place near Dallas to hunt for turkey, as several of the guys that visit this board have done so. But, since Texas doesn't have a lot of public land (90+% of Texas is privately owned) the hunting can be a challenge. Texas Parks and Wildlife also has draw hunts, but these may be too far for you to travel. hunters neededSummary:
220, the price for the lease is $2,500.00 for each hunter, w/guest allowed with restrictions. We have both water and electric w/ the bill for the electric split evenly between all paid hunters after season. I did not hunt this lease last season because dad and I had some differences with the lease manager. I have talked with the land owner and he has told me that he is removing them due to the fact they would not abide by the lease rules and other reasons. I have hunter this lease for 4 yrs and it has plenty of game. I have seen at least 2 trophy class bucks each year that I hunted there. I need 10 hunters to lease this place and have until April to give the land owner the 50% deposit for it. If you are interested please call or e-mail me and we can visit and I can send you a copy of the lease rules. (Mostly common sense ). You can also find more info on this lease in the guides and lease section of this web site under Crockett county lease. e-mail address ----------mekrto @hotmail.com / phone # 817-475-9723 thanks William old sabine bottom wmaSummary:
It's one of the better public land spots, definitely need to spot and stalk - you would be wasting your time posting. The ATV side gets a lot of traffic from both the hog hunters and duck hunters, although, like anything else, if you're willing to walk further than the crowds you can find some "less" pressured hogs. They move around alot on the property so try to concentrate around the bamboo patches and along the river sleuths. Use satelitte imagery to plan your hunt and be sure to hunt into the wind, or you will be wasting your time. Good luck Heli-hoginSummary:
All though I absolutely do not want me or anyone else to wound or kill any wildlife and not consume it, this is one time that I for one understand and do not object to the wholesale killing of these hogs. I have seen what damage they can do and have heard horror stories from land owners. If you kill them and don't want the meat, The buzzards and varments will thank you------------Kill them all !!!!!!!!!! trespassers and poachersSummary:
Last year we had some real problems with poachers. We had a lot of oil field workers on our place and had 3 of our cameras raided at the feeders and the chips were removed and broken and dropped on the ground. also found a number of places where deer were gutted at our feeders. Land owner said he would look into it, but nothing ever happened. New to Texas need to get my hunting fixSummary:
Thanks for the invitation Jason...I wish I had something to offer you. As you've probably heard by now Texas is over 90% privately owned, and most of the hunting is on leased land. Simple permission to hunt ot just about unheard of anymore and the leases are usually pretty restrictive. In particular our family is essentially invited to hunt every year (though we pay), so we're very limited to what we can do. The only thing I can suggest is getting on TPWD's website and see if there are any more drawwings for WMA hunts left. Kinda doubt there is. There's also the opportunity to possibly hunt standby if someone doesn't show on those hunts. There are also Davy Crockett National Forest and Caddo National Grasslands that can be productive. How Did The First Day of Dove Season Go?Summary:
Unfortunately, i had to work today and on Friday, but I will be heading down south to the RGV for the special whitewing weekend hunt. I heard some great reports from friends that went out this am near San Antonio and found plenty of flocks some as big as 50 birds flying over corn and sunflowers. I have been seeing plenty of birds all around the SA area and some fields I scouted in South Texas, the key is finding fields with good native food source and water nearby where the birds are actively using to drink. Just because there is a tank of water does not mean birds are gonna use that tank, it has to have the right elements for doves to land and walk up to the bank and drink!!! 3233 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
