BASS, the worldwide authority on bass fishing, today announced that Bass Pro Shops, the world's leading supplier of outdoor gear, will build on the marketing alliance formed last year by assuming title sponsorship of the Bassmaster Opens in 2010-2011. With the agreement, final-day weigh-ins of select Bassmaster Open events will be held at Bass Pro Shops stores.

The brother team of Charlie Barton, of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Jack Barton, of Port Isabelle, Texas, weighed in a two-redfish limited that totaled 14.67 pounds to win the IFA Redfish Tour event at Port Lavaca on April 17.

James Tesch, of Sweeny, Texas, caught a redfish and speckled sea trout totaling 46.5 inches in length to win the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing at Port Lavaca, Texas, on April 17. The event, hosted by the Hobie Dealership, Seaworthy Marine, was the regular-season opener for he IFA Kayak Tour's Texas Division.

Some will call Craig Schuff a fast learner. After all, the Watauga, Texas, angler had never thrown a swimbait before coming to Lake Amistad for the Bassmaster Central Open this week, but Saturday his 24-pound limit with one of the big swimming lures propelled him to his first Open win with a three day total of 68 pounds, 9 ounces.

Giant Lake Amistad will be a fitting playing field for the April 8-10 season opener of the 2010 Bassmaster Central Open tour.  Signed up to compete on the sprawling impoundment that straddles the Texas-Mexico border are 204 pros and 204 co-anglers.
