Opinions needed for paid hog hunts - will be my first time to hunt ever.

Summary:

does anyone have opinions of http://www.a-bhunting.com/

They are closer to DFW than my favorite 300yd gun range  www.apgtraining.com (which has been sold).

Positives -
- I can drive there and back in under 1 hour.
- Wont have to stay somewhere overnite.
- found out about them from Big Kev at the gun range while sighting in and testing Romanian PSL 203gr sp.  He said he hunts there and is great.

Hunting Only – per hunter, with 4-wheeler guide service to your stand $ 75
Hunting Only – per hunter, with 4-wheeler guide service to your stand $ 75
- Price - only $75.  then pay per hog.
Hunting Only – per hunter, with 4-wheeler guide service to your stand $ 75

Unknowns or negatives for me for first time hunt -
- does not look like they have auto feeders (to train hogs to feed at same place at same time of day
- does not look like they have fences or stock.  looks like they depend on 'wild' hogs running thru.
- no box blinds - will be cold and possibly wet.
- one plot 120 acres other says 6 (dont know if that matters)

I need to call first to confirm or get more info.  MIGHT be a good first time place (whether I get something or not) just for a test run

Again, I am new to all of this...  am I on the right track in my data evaluation?

Hunting in Mexico turns dangerous

Summary:

Sweetwater Steel Company is still owned by David and Steve Mueller.  This is an old story and your version is embellished quite a bit which would be uncommon two years after the fact.  The story is too long to go in to but if you research it, you will find that the truth is far from what you stated above.  In fact, the owner of the steel company didn't pay any ransom at all.  The target of that kidnapping was Librado Pina, Owner of Rancho La Barranca. Once you make deals with the devil, it's hard to get rid of the devil.  You can't get involved with those type of people to make a quick buck and then get out.  Obviously they don't let you out too easy.  David Mueller and another hunter from Monterrey were unfortunately caught in the middle.

First Polar Bear Archery Hunt On Video

Late Season Dove Hunt at Uvalde, lots of pics

Summary:

This is the first time I have ever hunted in Sesame, much less seen it before. My understanding it is planted there as part of a government or university project with several different types for testing and research.
Thus why it is not cut. I had seeds in all my hunting cloths when I got home. I can see why this hunt is such a sure thing every season.

Ok, I am going to stray from the hunt. There is more here than just dove hunting. I got side tracked on the way to the Dove field Sunday morning. On the 20 minute drive from the State Park to the field at dawn, I think I saw more Deer in that 20 minutes than I have seen in the last 5 years. Including some Axis and Blackbuck. I had to stop to get a picture of these two.

On a budget I stayed at Garner State Park rather than in Town. I camped with electric and water for less than 20 bucks. Though next time I am going to take my non hunting family and get one of the State Park Cabins. They could hang out at the park while I am away hunting. This time of year, it was not crowded at all. I had the best site in the entire park I think right on the river.

So many birds I decided to stay for Monday morning. I swear there were more Birds on Monday than on Saturday and Sunday combined.
A nice sunrise.

I hunted in the edge of the Sesame again, but with a Mojo this time behind me just a little ways out in a plowed field. Not a lot of Dove came to the mojo, but the ones that did presented some high success rate shots. With the others flying in my face one after another, I was done by 8:30 in the morning.

A big public thank you to Kevin for his hospitality to everyone on the hunt and to me. Though I have no affiliation and am mostly a public land hunter, I do hope to make a tradition of this one for years to come. Especially for the late season Dove season. Kevin's hunts on the Dove are $85. Kevin can be reached at (936) 537-6759. When he has so many great people coming back from year to year, it shows he is doing something right.
