Seems that my friend of his needs some cedar cleared off of their ranch near Burnet, Texas and the Government will pay her $25 per acre. We went out yesterday to take a look around and start the clear...
The hogs you dont want...Summary: Well judging from your other post, the hogs are in the area already. A good feeding program will bring them running. By good I mean sustained. Get a feeder, I suggest 55gal or larger and a decent timer\slinger that is dependable. You dont have to spend much to get a decent timer these days. I have a couple that I got from Cabela's called the DayII and they have been very reliable. I got mine when they were 40 bucks but I think the price has gone up a little. Setup the feeder and keep it running and if there are hogs in the area they will find the corn pretty quickly. If you keep it running they will pattern around the feed times and then you're in business.

Thanks guys, we are pumped. bad thing is this could be the last year for hunting the area because of the Parmer Lane extention. Things are looking good, we put the camera out last Saturday afternoon and these pictures were on it monday along with 140 more. The deer really took to the high protein/corn mix we have in the feeders. We also have big water barrels that the deer really use. The lease is only 20 acres but it is just 15 minutes from my front door an covered with deer. It's a cool lease because we also get to hunt crossbow during rifle season and with the new antler restriction we get to take out some of the spike bucks. The crossbow hunting allows us to take the kids for an evening deer hunt and be home for dinner. Next we have to setup the ranch for rifle. We are hoping to get the hogs coming in and maybe a few deer for rifle. I will be headed down there this weekend to fill the feeders and fix-up some blinds. I'm sure we will do a little fishing. Will post pics if I remember to take some. Buying hogs - legal?Summary: Legal...I'm not sure but hey, not getting caught is the same as being good right? I thought about doing the samething, buying hogs and releasing them but I know my neighbors would not be happy. But not to worry, the hogs are really starting to populate around our ranch. I am trying to talk my dad into hog fencing the back 50 acres so I can start a hog bowhunting operation but he is more concerned with the Longhorn operation at this point.
gman - hog hunt?Summary:
Allen, I think you may be able to connect on a pig in 2 hunts and we would love to have you join us. If you are listed as pending please post and let me know if you are still interested. Here is the tentative list of guys for the hunt. If you are going and want to bait for hogs, corn and hogwild powder seems to work pretty well in the area. There are some stands on the property and you can bring some if you like. This is also a very good place to call for coyotes and other vermin...we usually get a couple of varmints on each hunt. I haven't heard if there are any geese hanging around but you may want to bring some steel shot just in case. we can also put together some drives to try to push some pigs to standers. If everyone listed below is going the hunt will be full. Chris Crouse Jonathan Brege Allen Shannon (pending) Paul Saunders Paul Dugan(pending) Ron Deshesky (pending) Jason Parish (pending) Garrett 92 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
