Sort your results:Existing Search Criteria:Refine Your Search:Search Results:Buy Wildlife Tranquilizer Dart GunSummary: I went to Google today and searched for "buy wildlife dart gun" and it came back with nothing. I have heard from several people over the years about using dart guns to manage horses, cattle, exotics, wild hogs, and of course, the huge trophy whitetail deer breeders. If you have a dart gun, what br...
Anyone shoot a .257 Weatherby?Summary: I have been comparing a .257 Weatherby to a .270 Sako as my next primary hunting/work gun. The ballistics of the 87 grain bullet in the .257 is so impressive, it just seems a natural gun for stalk hunting and a general carry while you hike gun. The primary negative so far is that you can't buy the...
My daughter's first "Hog and Coyote Hunt" (in her own words)
Summary: I thought this was pretty interesting to read from the child's perspective. The truth - that she doesn't realize - is that we drove to the patio of an old house on the family ranch and just sat there, and then we drove around the ranch with a spotlight. We weren't really hunting, but in her mind we...
There is such a difference in the "hunt" depending on which exotic species and the type of ranch
Summary: Do you agree that the type of "hunt" changes dramatically depending on the species and ranch type? For example, this Red Stag could careless about me taking this photo. Regardless of method, other than running up with a spear, it doesn't seem like much of a hunt. I think a number of factors cause...
Firearms Accidents at an All-Time LowSummary: Firearms Accidents at an All-Time Low Anti-gun propaganda claims that firearms are a "leading" cause of death, but firearm accidents now account for only 0.04 percent of all deaths and 0.9 percent of accidental deaths in the U.S. Among children, they account for 2 percent of accidental deat...

average hunters priced out of hunting
Summary:
Hornhunter, I was talking with Linda Campbell at Texas Parks & Wildlife about the cost of hunting in Texas and she had some great comments about the underutilized the Public Hunting opportunities. Read page 108 in the new Outdoor Annual for 2008-2009. Or, visit http://tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/public/ I had no idea they gave away 5500+ large game hunts each year; or that there is 55000 acres of walk-in birding hunting near urban areas; or 49 walk-in youth hunting areas, or that they give away 1200+ youth hunts for large game, exotics, and turkey each year. For example, I looked up buck hunts in Travis County and there were only 632 applicants for 18 permits that include 1 buck, 2 does, and unlmited feral hogs. Last year of the 18 hunters, it says 4 harvested a buck. Not bad for a $10 raffle ticket with a 1 in 35 chance of winning. ----------------- Computer Drawings for Supervised Hunts Drawings are held to select a limited number of participants in high quality supervised hunts for white-tailed and mule deer, pronghorn antelope, exotics, feral hogs, javelina, turkey, alligators and guided hunt packages. Application deadlines for the categories of 2008-2009 Computer Drawn Hunts are as follows:
For the Record (I don't know if this is true but it sounds good)Summary: For the Record Among the 15 states with the highest homicide rates, 10 have restrictive or very restrictive gun laws. Twenty percent of United States homicides occur in four cities with just six percent of the population---New York, Chicago, Detroit and Washington DC--and each has a virtual...
