Tie a fly. Cast a fly. Catch a fish.  That’s all there is to fly-fishing, and Fly Fish Texas is the place to learn it. The annual event takes place March 10 at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center.  Show hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All Fly Fish Texas activities are free with regular paid admission to the center.

Just in time for the annual white bass run, Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine is launching its first-ever online-only extra, “Texas Fishing 2012.”

Lake Austin gave up the third Toyota ShareLunker of the season to Austin angler Brett Ketchum January 29.  The 13.0-pound bass is the thirteenth ShareLunker to come from the urban lake.

Many indicators, including a record-setting 2011, show the firearms industry continues to thrive in a down economy and that the potential exists for another strong sales year in 2012, reports the National Shooting Sports Foundation®, the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry.

If you’re a saltwater angler and don’t like the idea of hundreds of abandoned crab traps catching and killing game fish you could have landed, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is looking for volunteers willing to help get rid of these derelict traps along the coast.
