The ends don't justify the means, but whether by skill or cunning or luck, when you are a kid all that matters is that you landed the fish.

No part of this photo brings up any thought or desire of wanting to join them. I wonder if the fish are stiff and miserable and just bite the hook to get it over with.

For Spring Break this year we went out to the family farm and enjoyed a week of fishing, hiking, wildlife, farm animals, and smores. Such wonderful memories.

I was sent this email today by my daughter's Godmother...

"We just got back from the most amazing weekend with all of our kids.  We took them to the Rolling O ranch in South Texas for hunting, fishing, arrowhead finding, game playing, relaxing, skeet shooting, and general family bonding.  The boys already loved it, but now the girls are HOOKED!!  Looks like we might make it a family tradition.  I even killed a 15 point buck that scored 179!!"

Chase, the kid that caught it, whittled down an elm branch and started poking around under rocks. He felt it grab the end of the stick, and then it emerged from its hideout, where it was in the current letting fish wash into its mouth..(there was a one pound catfish alive in its mouth that we freed). He chased it into the shallows and speared it.....not bad for a 15 year old. He also shot and skinned a pig this morning.

My father has been in the offshore drilling business his entire life. He sent me these photos today from a rig.
