Fishing at the Poco Loco Lodge is first rate. Whether its Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, or Tarpon your after you will not be disappointed with your catch. We can take you out on the water in one of our many boats, you can bring your own boat, or even just relax with us on land.

We can offer you guided fishing trips for Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, Tarpon, or other species. We have a brand new custom built 22’ boat designed to access the ‘skinniest’ water or cross the roughest bays safely.

If fly fishing is your thing, "Come fly with us", we also offer guided specialty fly fishing trips in the flats that are only accessible by airboat. There are also plenty of great places for wading and or Kayak fishing, so bring your gear!

Captain Coufal began his fishing career fishing East and West bays in Matagorda Texas. This is where he had the opportunity to study fishing patterns throughout the years and hone his skills. He then had the opportunity to fish Rockport Texas and was instantly attracted to the vast bay systems that the area had to offer. The unique variety ranging from the deep shell reefs of San Antonio bay, the abundance of back lakes, to the always fish-able grass bottom of Estes flats, made for an easy decision to make Rockport his home. Rockport definitely provides the best opportunity for consistent fishing year-round than anywhere else on the Texas coast.

Blue Water Options
Texas Offshore Adventures, LLC. offers several options when it comes to blue water fishing. We will be happy to help you make the best possible decision about which trip will yield the best possible results during a certain time frame.  Our goal is to provide the best and most successful trip for you, our Guest.

Full Day Blue Water Trips
Due to our close proximity to deep water, Freeport is one of the few places on the upper Texas Coast you have a chance to catch Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Kingfish, Cobia, Amberjack and even Billfish all in the same day. We run our blue water day trips everyday of the year and achieve great success on them, frequently filling fish boxes before the day is up. Our primary methods of fishing on these trips change seasonally and consist of live bait fishing, chunking, casting top water plugs and trolling.

Overnight Tuna Trips
We generally leave the dock in the mid afternoon and return late the following morning. We normally are heading out to the big Spar and Floating rigs 100+ miles offshore.  We spend the entire night fishing for tuna, not something for the faint of heart.  While tuna is our primary query we’ll also catch Amberjack, Wahoo, Kingfish, Snapper, Grouper, Mahi Mahi, and Ling.  Our primary methods of fishing are live baiting, chunking, casting top water plugs and Jigging.

Offshore Options

Bottom Fishing
Once again, due to Freeport’s proximity to deep water, we enjoy some
spectacular bottom fishing. We routinely fish for trophy Red snapper, Mangrove snapper, big Grouper, Amberjack and Ling. We usually pick up other assorted species along the way as well. We leave the dock at safe light and return in the mid to late afternoon

Near Shore Options

Bull Redfish, Shark and Tarpon Trips       
The Jetties and Beachfront of Freeport hold Red fish of Epic proportions. We regularly see days where we catch double digit numbers of redfish over 35 pounds. These fish provide a huge challenge on light tackle. The best part is that these fish are here year round. We do choose to release most of the bull reds and hope that you choose to do so as well. We are looking forward to a
dynamic fishery for many years to come.

Traditional Inshore Trips
Freeport Offshore Adventures works very closely with several of the most talented inshore Captains in the area and would be happy to set up a day of inshore fishing for you. We will only book you with talented and courteous Captains. You will fish out of a 22-24 foot bay boat and be furnished with high quality tackle. The boats fish up to four anglers and several boats are available.   The trips leave at first light and return 4-6 hours later. You can expect to catch Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Flounder.

I'm Captain Joe Mendez U.S. Coast Guard licensed full time professional fishing guide in Corpus Christi, Rockport and Port Aransas Texas.  Guiding in South Texas for 20 years, I am experienced and knowledgeable in fishing the waters of Baffin Bay, Land Cut, Nine Mile Hole and the Laguna Madre with lures, fly and live bait. 

Spend a day fishing on the shallow water flats and you will be hooked.  Saltwater fishermen and freshwater fishermen are coming down from all over to fish the waters of the Laguna Madre, Baffin Bay, Land Cut, Nine Mile Hole and Corpus Christi Bay.  Baffin Bay alone has earned the reputation as the greatest trophy trout spot on the entire Texas Gulf Coast by producing the last two state record trout.  For sight casting to big schools of tailing redfish there is no better place than Nine Mole Hole.  The weather in Corpus Christi is great year round, and the big trout and redfish are always ready to bite.

Capt. Lee has been fishing along the Texas Gulf Coast, from Galveston to Matagorda and all spots in between, since his Father and Grandfather took him from the time he was 2 years old. His Grandfather taught him to respect our beautiful coast line as well as a few tricks to finding the BIG fish!!

Capt. Dustin Lee has a degree in Aquaculture and has worked at numerous hatcheries along the coast, re-stocking bays from Galveston to Matagorda, for the Texas Parks and Wildlife.

The boats that Capt. Lee will run are a 22' Mosca Bay Raider and a 26' Glacier Bay well equipped electronically to place you where you need to be to snag that Texas BIG FISH!!

Inshore: Speckled Trout, Redfish and flounder.

Near shore: Bull Reds, Kingfish, Red Snapper, Tarpon, Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) and Sharks.

Offshore (deep sea): Red Snapper, Kingfish, Ling, Dorado (Mahi-Mahi), Amberjack, Grouper, Bull Reds and Sharks.

Born and raised in the Coastal Bend, I started fishing Corpus Christi and the surrounding bays in the early 1950's. In the 1980's, I fished for my own pleasure and entered as many fishing tournaments as possible. In 1992, under the urging of Captain "Redfish" Wally Mayer, I got my Coast Guard License and began to guide fish the spots I had kept somewhat secret for several years. I spent 27 years in the classroom and coached girls basketball. My penchant for winning (four trips to the final four in Austin, 567 wins) and teaching makes me an excellent choice for the novice fisherman, for the family, and for the seasoned veteran. Having been around young people all my life, I enjoy helping them learn the lessons and enjoy the experience of a great day on the water.
