Using flour to attract hogsSummary: I am always looking for new creative ways to improve my hunting and fishing success. Need somewhere near Austin for first time hog hunter.....Summary:
I started my search on this website right here: http://www.texashuntfish.com/app/hunting-and-fishing-guides-and-leases/browse I have not been hog hunting yet. Only thing I know is what I read off of these sights. www.texasboars.com is a good resource. From what I have read, if you are a stranger to them most landowners are reluctant to having someone run around with a gun even if they are harvesting hogs. And, you really have to bait and wait for the hogs (again, from what I read). Even though hogs are everywhere they are not necessarily where you are when you are looking for them. Dont know if I am right about any of this. To me, buying a hunt with a year round feeder and the land gets 'worked' for hogs is the only way to go if you do not have land or someone who 'works' the land for hogs. I know guys at work who go hog hunting on friends land and even though they are overrun with hogs they just walk around and sit and see nothing. I believe they dont care if they kill anything... they just want to get away from the wefe and kids. I am willing to go somewhere and pay. Will cost more to drive to land over and over and over and never see anything than it is to pay for a hunt. |
