Fishing at the Poco Loco Lodge is first rate. Whether its Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, or Tarpon your after you will not be disappointed with your catch. We can take you out on the water in one of our many boats, you can bring your own boat, or even just relax with us on land.

We can offer you guided fishing trips for Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, Tarpon, or other species. We have a brand new custom built 22’ boat designed to access the ‘skinniest’ water or cross the roughest bays safely.

If fly fishing is your thing, "Come fly with us", we also offer guided specialty fly fishing trips in the flats that are only accessible by airboat. There are also plenty of great places for wading and or Kayak fishing, so bring your gear!

Hi, I am Captain Russell Pilzner, owner of Russell Pilzner's Fowl Play Guide Service. I have been hunting and fishing the Port O'Connor and Seadrift area for over nine years. I enjoy hunting/fishing with families and children as well as the die-hard hunters and anglers. I am U.S.C.G. licensed and a member of Ducks Unlimited® , CCA, and the Coastal Bend Guides Association.

     I specialize in duck hunting the San Antonio Bay System for Redheads, Pintails and other diver ducks. I also fish the Port O'Connor and San Antonio Bay Systems for trout, redfish and flounder.

WHAT TO EXPECT

    When hunting with Captain Russell, I will give you an enjoyable four hours of morning or afternoon hunting on the beautiful bay flats of the San Antonio Bay System.  We will be hunting for Redheads, Pintails, Widgeons, and other diver ducks.

     I expect nothing of my hunters except to have a good time and be prepared to shoot some ducks.   I take care of all necessary preparations such as, loading the boat, putting out and picking up the decoys, and retrieving all birds.

    The ducks will be retrieved by one of my two fully trained labs.  Shyleigh is a beautiful eight year old chocolate lab with six full years under her belt.  My new four year old yellow lab, Warrior, will be experiencing his third year on the water. With his family background and his desire to please, it is always a pure delight to watch him work. 

WAYS WE WILL BE HUNTING

    We will have several types of blinds to choose from depending on the flight pattern of the birds.  The types of blinds we will be hunting out of range from sink blinds, custom built blinds, all the way to portable blinds.

    We will be hunting over small or large spreads of top quality G&H Decoys.   The only items you will need to bring or get for your trip are your Valid Texas Hunting License including your Federal Duck Stamp. Licenses and stamps or available for out of state persons at 1-800-TX-LIC-4U.The only items you will need are gun, shells, waders, and camouflage clothing.

Captain Jay is licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  Jay is a member of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) and also listed in their guide directory.

He specializes in Redfish for anglers of all skill levels and welcomes children.  You will be fishing aboard a custom built Explorer fishing boat with a Mercury Pro XS , capable of running in extremely shallow water.  His boat is equipped with all of the required Coast Guard safety devices. On board devices include a GPS, power-pole, cellular phone, USCG life vests, medical kit, and a VHF marine radio.

Captain Terry Spoonemore is a full time guide, licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Texas Parks and Wildlife.

I have fished the area bays around Seadrift and Port O’connor for over forty years. I have the experience to make your trip to the coast memorable and successful.

Catching redfish and trout has been a lifelong passion for me. Whether wading the flats and shorelines with artificial lures or casting bait from the boat, I have the experience to fish “your way”. I enjoy teaching these skills to others and sharing a fun and exciting day on the water.

When fishing with Spoony’s Guide Service you will fish aboard a 21’ Majek Redfisher boat powered by a 150 horsepower Yamaha outboard. This craft is specially designed to operate in the shallow lakes and backwaters of the Texas coast.

Captain Ron Elkins is a USCG licensed fishing guide.  Capt. Ron has been with the Pathfinder/Yamaha pro-staff team for 5 years and is the past president of the Port O'Connor Guides Association.

Capt. Ron has been fishing the POC area for over 30 years and guiding in these waters since 1989.  You will depart from the comfort of his private dock/home on the Intercoastal waterway each morning(No boat ramp or marina hassles!).

Port O'Connor Area bays offers some of the best Speckled Trout and Red Fishing on the Texas coast.  Port O'Connor is a 2 hour drive from Houston, TX, which is the closest major airport.

Captain Ron specializes in wade/drift/surf fishing with artificials or bait for trout and redfish year round.

You will be fishing in a 2006 24 foot Patfinder powered by a 250 Yamaha 4 stroke.  The boat is equipped with the latest electronics(Garmin 178C GPS, Sirius Sattelite Radio, ...).  This boat provides a dry, smooth, quick, and comfortable ride to where the fish are.

Additionally, as a former competitive blue water captain, seasonal offshore trips can be arranged.

Currently, I am operating a 2004 Outback 24V Sport Powered by a Mercury Salt Water Series 150 HP Outboard.  This boat has proven to be comfortable, dry and a stable fishing platform.

Enjoy wade or drift fishing in the shallow waters of Matagorda and San Antonio Bays with your choice of artificial or live bait.

With weather permitting, surf fishing off Matagorda Island or Matagorda Peninsula is an option that will excite any angler!
