At the Flying A Ranch, we take great pride in providing quality animals for your hunting opportunities. Our goal is to ensure you; your family and guests have a safe and enjoyable experience. The 9000-acre ranch, located just south of Bandera, Texas, offers a variety of Hill Country whitetail deer and exotics, including axis, fallow, sika and red deer. We are committed to providing you with the ultimate hunt. Although we do not guarantee a successful hunt, most hunters get multiple opportunities during their stay. Lodging is available at The Lodge on San Julian Creek, which is located on the ranch.

All of our guides are ranch employees and are part of the everyday operations necessary to manage and maintain the ranch. Most hunts are conducted from 4’ X 8’ box blinds. Several of the blinds are elevated, some are placed on hillsides for better visibility, and the remainder are on flat ground with ADA accessibility. The boxes will comfortably hold the guide and up to two hunters. We offer a limited number of bowhunts each year for experienced bowhunters. These hunts are typically conducted from a pop-up blind housing the hunter and guide.

The Flying A has been operating since the early 1960’s. In 2001, we initiated our current management plan for the ranch and have seen substantial improvement in the quality of our whitetail and exotics. Give us the opportunity to provide you with a memorable Hill Country Hunt.

Lodging

The Lodge on San Julian Creek is the perfect choice for Bed and Breakfast lodging in the Texas Hill Country. Our four cottages have a view of San Julian Creek and the surrounding bluffs. The cottages have two separate bedrooms, each with a private entrance. If you have children, our "family cottages" have interior connecting room doors. All bedrooms have two double beds, a refrigerator and a private bath. Two bedrooms are ADA accessible.

A home cooked breakfast buffet provides a hearty start to your morning, leaving you prepared to enjoy the sights and attractions the Hill Country has to offer.

Take a wildlife tour and learn about the animals, birds and habitats of the 9,000 acre Flying A Ranch. Try bass fishing on their 14-acre lake. Hunting at the Flying A is also offered, with a variety of native and exotic species available. Visit www.FlyingARanch.net to learn more about hunting.

Explore Bandera, Medina and the surrounding area for antique shopping and the lively western style nightlife and attractions. Tube or kayak down the winding, crystal-clear Medina River. At our Texas hunting ranch we have a variety of exotics game as well as a strong group of white-tailed deer. Among the big game at our hunting ranch, the most popular are:

The Hunt

The hunts are exciting and a challenge to all hunters, but that is not what brings folks back to the Franklin Family Ranch. What our visitors tell us is that it's the overall experience of the ranch that is so compelling.

Hunting Ranch Accommodations

We do provide accommodations if you make an overnight trip to our exotic game hunting ranch. The accommodations are $250 per hunter per night and include lodging and meals. We provide two large meals and a light lunch each day. Your accommodations include skeet shooting, fishing, and wildlife photography as well. The exotic animal hunt is just a small part of the hunting package. If your group consists of  three or more hunters, the ranch may be reserved exclusively for your group.

Hill Country Adventures offers year round hunting on over 100,000 acres for Axis, Aoudad, Blackbuck, Fallow, Mouflon, Corsican, Texas Dall and Black Hawaiian sheep and over 40 other species as well as exceptional Pronghorn Antelope hunts in Texas. Our spring turkey hunts are like no other and we offer Trophy Whitetail deer hunts in South and North Texas and the Texas Hill Country. We also have bass fishing and flyfishing for individuals, families and corporate groups.

The year 1999-2000 saw the grand opening of the Heartsill Ranch, a beautiful ranch loaded with trophy animals.  We have now been under extensive deer management for our 16th year, and expect even better hunting results every year.  We have Fallow, Axis, Aoudad, Blackbuck, Elk, Oryx, Red Deer, Rams, Whitetail, Turkey, Dove, Ducks, and fishing on a beautiful 30 acre lake.  As we continue to grow, we will increase the numbers of different species on the ranch, so keep checking with us, and we will have what you want very soon.  Although we just opened, our schedule is filling up, so book your hunt today, and begin planning on a great time on our ranch.  Everything was very exciting with the arrival of rock and roll legend Ted Nugent.  Music, hunting, filming hunts, it was all a great time and memories to last a lifetime.    

The ranch is located in the Heart of Texas, just west of Waco. The 2004-2005 hunting season was the first year that the ranch has ever been offered to the public - it has been hunted only by our company personnel.

We are scientific breeders which helps to keep good genetics in our deer herd.

Pearl Ranch

1500 acres of high-fenced land. This area of Central Texas features rolling hills, heavily wooded areas with a combination of live oak, mesquite and cedar. We have recently constructed a new bass lake to accompany our catfish lake. We also have a shooting clay tower that is available to all hunters. If you kill out before your hunt trip is over, Mike Hydrick is an avid bass fisherman and would be happy to carry you to the local Belton Lake Reservoir for a day of fishing.

Dove hunting at the Katzfey Ranches is a priority. We work hard to have fields and ponds that attract the birds for  some of the most exciting dove hunting you could wish for. Families, friends and corporate groups are invited to enjoy our great hunts over Sunflower, Milo, Millet fields, and watering ponds. We offer simple day hunts to overnight lodging complete with catered meals.  Come enjoy our warmth and hospitality together with the fun and excitement of a great dove hunt!

Our three lodges can accommodate up to 28 people.  We would also like to invite you stay at our barn for a guys weekend getaway or great fishing at Choke Canyon.

    Las Auras is the name given to the ranch that is harbored in South-Texas nestled next to the Nueces river. During the different Texas hunting seasons, Las Auras offers great fowl hunting for Rio Grande Turkey,  Mourning and White wing Dove, Duck and Quail. Great fishing for Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish and Stripers is just footsteps away from the bank of the Nueces River.

    Bow, Pistol, Rifle and Muzzle loader hunters are all welcomed, your hunting method is your preference. Whether you wish to hunt from any of our various blinds, safari style or spot and stalk your game animals, you are sure to enjoy your hunt with us.  At Las Auras we have record book class exotic game from all over the World.  If harvesting a trophy animal is what your looking for we will help you attain your goal, if your looking for a certain specimen, we can facilitate that as well. You are the one choosing to hunt with us so you choose the way to hunt, the animal you wish to harvest and we will guide you to that mark without any pressure whatsoever.

    At Las Auras you can hunt a trophy Russian boar or mighty Feral hog. Hog hunting on our ranch is a high success affair, with lots of color phases and plenty of shooting opportunities. Most of the hog hunts are conducted on senderos and along creek banks. Varmints such as Ringtail Cats, Bobcats, Coyotes as well as Raccoons are plentiful and are usually hunted at dusk and dawn.

    During your stay at Las Auras you can hunt any of our exotics which are at the Ranch. You will have a chance to hunt for any of the following exotics Rams: Trans Caspian, Armenian Red Sheep, Aoudad, Texas Dall, Mouflon, Corsican, Four Horn, Merino and Black Hawaiian to fulfill the ram category.

As for Goats Las Auras offers Catalina, New Zealand, Himalayan Tars and Ibex which offer a great hunting experience. We have antelopes from Black bucks, Scimitar Oryx, Blesbok, Dama Gazelle, Gemsbok and Nilgai.

You might even want to hunt a Bison, Water Buffalo or Wildebeest that roam the brush. If your Preference is that on deer hunting alone then we have excellent selection of Fallow, Sika, Elds Deer, Elk, Pere David, Red Deer and Axis.
