Getaway Adventures Lodge's standard packages include three nights lodging and two days guided fishing or hunting. Your typical adventure starts with an arrival at Getaway Adventures Lodge and we get you settled into your room and introduce you to our staff.  On the first night, we make reservations at one of the local restaurants and let you settle in at your leisure.

The next morning we wake you up for a Texas Style buffet before hitting the water at daybreak.  Lunch is prepared for you and served on the boat.  Once returning to the dock after a day of fishing, enjoy the evening with finger foods and a tasty adult beverage before dinner at six.  After dinner, enjoy sitting on the deck, or by the pool, or for those that have not had enough fishing for the day, try to catch one of our local tarpon or snook off the docks.

The Vinegarroon Ranches cover 27,500 acres in Val Verde County, Texas. All of our ranches are low fence and all of our hunts are fair chase. Vinegarroon's hunts are geared to the outdoor sportsman that likes the challenge of hunting a mature whitetail buck in his natural range. Our ranches lie between the Devil's River and the Rio Grande River in the rolling hills and canyons. The terrain is covered in a variety of low thorny brush that provides high nutritional value for our whitetail population. You will be hunting country in which we have bucks we have yet to see and the deer have not been pressured by over hunting.

We maintain a year-round feed and mineral supplemental feeding program and census count to determine herd balance and density annually. Our southwest Texas ranches have a deer density of 1 deer to 12 acres and a buck to doe ratio of 1 buck to 2 doe. One buck to approximately 500 acres will be harvested and the necessary doe to keep our herd in balance. We ask our hunters to harvest a mature whitetail buck of at least 4 1/2 years of age. Hunters should see 10-15 bucks a day. Our average bucks will be 6.5 year old bucks in the 130-140 B&C gross class with our top deer each year in the 150-160's.

 Our wild hog hunts take place on corn farms and private ranches in northeast Texas.   All hunts are guided behind well experienced hog dogs.  Wild hog hunting in general is not an easy chore. Wild hogs are very smart, very tough and can be very aggressive when cornered or wounded.  Boar hogs have a very thick armor plating over the shoulder area that is very hard to penetrate. 

The hunter can choose any weapon of their choice, including archery, handguns, rifles, or knives.  All firearms must have open sights (No Scopes).  Shotguns can also be an option only if the hunter wishes to shoot a slug.  Sometimes when a hog bays up in a thicket it could be too difficult to attain a good shot with a bow.  Because of this, the bow hunt might  quickly turn into a knife hunt.  We ask all hunters who wish to hunt with a firearm to sign a waver stating that they can be held liable for any damages to domesticated animals.  This step must be taken because the hunts take place on private ranches where livestock  roam.  

These are strictly fair chase hunts.  The only hogs to be taken are the ones bayed by the dogs.  The hogs that are bayed must be taken, no matter what size the hogs are.  150lb to 250lb hogs are the average size hogs taken.  We  prepare your meat for transporting to the processor and cape trophy hogs to be taken to the taxidermist .

Ken Gould has 42 years in the guided hunting business and dedicated to serving you.  We are hunting on several ranches with exclusive hunting rights.  All hunts are fair chase hunts.  For regulated species and exotics, we offer some guaranteed hunts due to the abundance of game. A guaranteed hunt means "No Kill - No Pay". 

Our hunts are first class and we make every endeavor to please our clients.  References available upon request. Elk hunts are in productive areas which have yielded excellent results for our clients in the past years.  On most hunts we furnish complete services..meals, guides, transportation, lodging and proper care of meat and trophies.  On other hunts, we furnish guides, noon meal, transportation and proper care of meat and trophies in the field. Lodging can be arranged locally.  For Wild Boar and Javelina hunts, pistols, open-sight rifles or bows only! 

We offer excellent elk, mule deer and antelope hunts in western states as well as Texas, mostly on private ranches with some elk mule deer and bear hunts on a limited basis. We abide by all state and federal game laws. Proper licenses may be obtained upon arrival unless prior application is required or drawn. Bow hunters and black powder hunters are welcome. Commercial airport pickup can be arranged from Austin International airport 45 minutes away or nearby San Antonio International airport abut 90 minutes away. Private planes may land at our local county airport. We also arrange excellent Salt Water Fishing excursions with Fresh Water Fishing available locally through our service. Two fully equipped camp houses that will accommodate 14 hunters very comfortably are available for your hunt. The cabins have full kitchens including a stove and refrigerator. They are also equipped with A/C, heating, shower, and bunk beds. A BBQ pit is available outside where you can enjoy the beautiful views and the spectacular Texas night sky.
