Hello, this is Captain Terry. I would like to tell you a little about the hunting and fishing on our ranch located along Coleto Creek.

The ranch is located in DeWitt county, about 25 miles west of Victoria, 20 miles north of Goliad, 20 miles south of Cuero, and 15 miles east of Yorktown. Most of the 1300-acre ranch has been in the family for over 100 years.

Coleto Creek is a continuously flowing creek which runs through the middle of the ranch. It is a clear water creek full of Bass and Catfish. The creek attracts all kinds of wildlife---deer, trukey, hog, squrrel, dove, along with all sorts of predators such as bobcats, coyotes, and fox.

We are very secluded with little traffic noise, located away from major highways. If you are looking for peace and quite, we are your destination. We also have four stock tanks, one which covers over 5 acres when full. These stock tanks also attract much wildlife.

Very little hunting is done by our neighbors to the east and south, and no hunting to the north and west.

We have two cabins available for overnight guests. One is just right for two people. With a full-size bed and a single rollaway bed; including a kitchen, shower, picnic table and grill. The other cabin sleeps 13 comfortably. It also includes full bathroom, kitchen, grill, and tables, with the lodge only steps away. Grill and table provided.

Hunting lodge is 600 sq. ft. with cedar walls, tile floors, restroom, television and pool table which is accessible to all hunters.

We offer trophy and meat hunts for wild boar and exotics. We have a variety of hunts from stand hunts to dog on hog knife hunts.

Fishing and lodging is available, Our dock is on the Tres palacios river and is lighted for night fishing. lodging is a mobile home with all the basics, also a small cabin available on the river with fire ring and bbq pits. To find the big bulls you must go where the big bulls live long enough to get that way. You need to access miles upon miles of wilderness and get in the middle of it, then work your way out. You will soon find bulls that average larger scoring racks and an average increase. If they can’t see their 7th birthday I can’t see you wasting your time shooting them.

We focus primarily on elk but of course run into an occasional deer and the chances are good he will be a big one. The reason is he to will also be older than the average deer that you will see that is closer access to hunters.

We do take moose hunters also which the GMU 171 is a prime since it is where these elk began.  I was hunting it back before they even put the moose in here. For a number of years I took the best moose of the year in the outfitters association. Need I say more?
