Dos Angeles Ranch

Dos Angeles Ranch
Summary: Dos Angeles Ranch is owned by Jack and Lynn Fields. The ranch, Dos Angeles, ("Two Angels") is named for their two daughters.

Dos Angeles Ranch is 12,400 acres of diverse terrain and, is great South Texas habitat for quail, whitetail deer, turkeys, and exotics. About a third of the ranch was an irrigated farm, which creates an ideal habitat for quail. The remainder varies from great South Texas brush to grass-carpeted canyons.

Our country is true cowboy country. We are 12 miles from the Rio Grande, and we are greatly influenced by the Mexican culture and this region's proud ranching heritage.

Dos Angeles Ranch is a hunting and fishing paradise. Traversed by 3 ½ miles of beautiful Pinto Creek, Dos Angeles Ranch is a rare combination of Hill Country water (rock-bottomed, clear, and rushing water) and South Texas brush---we are one of the few ranches in Texas that is truly "South Texas" with Hill Country water! *(LONESOME DOVE was filmed on Pinto Creek, just south of our ranch boundary.)

Lodge and Casitas

We offer the quail enthusiast "world class accommodations." We have a large lodge---a lodge for the entertainment of guests---a lodge for enjoying Dos Angeles cuisine---a lodge for sharing the day's experiences with your friends and fellow quail enthusiasts.

The "casitas" are individual rooms---each casita is carpeted with tile accents---each casita has two twin beds or one queen bed, individual heating and air conditioning, satellite television, and a high speed, wireless internet connection.

Dining and Cuisine

The dining experience at Dos Angeles Ranch is truly world class. The Executive Chef Carlos Gomez is one of the world's greatest chefs---period---and, he is the Executive Chef at Dos Angeles Ranch. His current clientele is the most powerful, and the most demanding, in the world.

Other Amenities at Dos Angeles Ranch

Hunting for Whitetail Deer, Turkeys, and Exotics:

While the focus on Dos Angeles Ranch is quail, hunting for whitetail deer, turkeys, and exotics will be available for our guests and prices will be furnished on request.

Sporting Clay Range:

There is a four station, lighted sporting clay range on the ranch. Whether the range is used for sharpening one's eye or competition among friends, the range is available to our guests.

Fly Fishing / Spinner Cast Fishing:

Pinto Creek flows through the ranch for about 3 ½ miles. Pinto Creek flows over limestone---it is a "Hill Country" creek in a South Texas setting. There are numerous waterfalls, several deep holes---water which is perfect for fly fishing or spinner cast fishing---perfect for wading or fishing from the bank.

Hot Tub / Big Screen TV in the Lodge.

One may decide between quail hunts to "veg"---watch a football game on the big screen TV or lie in the hot tub (the hot tub is a must under a million stars of a South Texas night!).

1A Corporate Deer Lease

Summary: 1200 acres in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas, near Utopia. Little Seco Creek runs right next to the unique and rustic hunting cabin that will sleep up to 7 hunters at a time. There is a full kitchen, dining area, hot and cold water, heat and air conditioning, and 2 bathrooms with showers. Outside is a bar-b-q pit, an open fire ring, a covered pavilion, dance floor and some picnic tables. The creek is dammed to form a pretty pond for catch and release fishing. A game cleaning and storage facility is on the ranch and near the cabin for convenience. Whitetail deer are plentiful, and controlled harvesting has let several of them get old enough to produce some pretty impressive racks when compared to the surrounding area. Exotics, such as Axis, Fallow, Blackbuck, Aoudad and Ibex may also be seen. The Aoudad are particularly plentiful. Many wild hogs and some javelina also roam the hills, and since many local ranches import a variety of exotics that tend to occasionally get loose, you never really know what else may show up. There has been Asiatic Tahr, Scimitar Horned Oryx, and purebred Mouflon Sheep spotted on this ranch in the recent past. . A total of 10 whitetail bucks (of which no more than 5 may be trophy bucks with the rest being management class bucks) would be allowed. 10 whitetail doe may also be taken. You may also take up to 5 trophy Aoudad, 10 mature Aoudad ewes, 2 Axis bucks, 2 Fallow bucks, 2 Ibex billies and all the hogs that wander by. Any "other exotic" that shows up may be substituted for the Ibex. In spring, you may also harvest up to 5 mature tom turkeys. . Access from September to May, and full use of all facilities can be yours to impress those important customers or corporate execs for just $40,000 a year. Hunting blinds and game feeders are already in place and operational. You would be responsible for keeping them full and maintained once the lease is signed, or we can make arrangements to do it for you for an additional fee. . This is truly one of the prettiest ranches I have ever seen in the Texas Hill Country, and that is saying something, because in my line of work, I see many of them each year and I've done this a long time. The lodging and facilities are unique and gorgeous; very impressive! Call to arrange a tour!
