Hunter's Choice Bag Tops List of Migratory Bird ProposalsSummary: AUSTIN, Texas — Pending U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service decision in July, Texas duck hunters could get a “partial-mulligan” on their duck straps during the next three seasons.

Game Wardens Arrest Poachers With 800 Red SnapperSummary: AUSTIN, Texas — Acting on an Operation Game Thief (OGT) hotline tip, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens apprehended seven individuals on June 8 with more than 2,000 pounds of illegally caught snapper. The case, one of the largest seizures in Texas in recent years, resulted in citations for 26 game law violations and could result in fines and restitution of upwards of $20,000.
Record Sea Turtle Release Marks Kemp's Ridley ComebackSummary: TEPEHUAJES, Mexico — Mexican and U.S. scientists on June 28 marked the recovery of the Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle here with the largest single-day turtle release since the binational recovery project began decades ago, helping close to 240,000 four-inch hatchlings wriggle across the sand and into the Gulf of Mexico.
Discussions to Continue on Regional Spotted Seatrout Management Options for Lower Laguna MadreSummary: AUSTIN, Texas — Anglers in the Lower Laguna Madre could see spotted seatrout bag and size limits that are different from those in effect in other bay systems as early as September 2007.
A regional management plan for the Lower Laguna Madre is one solution being considered by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department coastal fisheries biologists to address a downward trend in both the number and size of the popular game fish being landed in Texas’ southernmost bay system.
