The 6th Annual Berkley Big Bass Challenge on Lake Fork hosted by BassChamps took place on October 15th - 16th, 2011 at Lake Fork Marina. The event was wildly successful with over 700 anglers competing for over $120,000 in cash, boats and prizes being awarded.

The Stephen F. Austin team of Andrew Upshaw, Hemphill and Ryan Watkins, Rockport, Texas, won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Texas Regional Championship Saturday in record setting fashion.

Pvt. Ryan Kirkland of Trinity,and Pvt. Chris Higgins of Crocket, Texas, won the National Guard FLW Soldier Appreciation Tournament held on Lake Somerville Saturday. The team, fishing with National Guard College angler Jerod Hawkes from Texas A&M, Kingsville caught two bass for a total of 9 pounds, 8 ounces to take the title and bragging rights amongst their peers.

The Stephen F. Austin University team of Andrew Upshaw, Hemphill, Texas and Ryan Watkins, Rockport, Texas, took the lead on day one of the National Guard FLW College Fishing Texas Regional championship presented by Mercury and hosted by Texas A&M on Lake Somerville Thursday with a five bass limit weighing 21 pounds, 5 ounces.

National Guard FLW College Fishing is headed to Lake Somerville Oct. 13-15 for the Texas Regional Championship which is being hosted by Texas A&M University. Twenty college teams will be competing for a top award of $50,000 to be split between the school and bass fishing club;

The Toyota Texas Bass Classic ShareLunker Club Tournament is set to get started on Lake Conroe on Oct. 1. The amateur tournament will run Oct. 1-21 and gives members the opportunity to fish for $100,000. There are still tournament memberships available for anyone interested in competing.

Matthew McClellan and Tyler Fisher, collegiate anglers from the University of Texas at Tyler, laid claim to the first Ranger Cup University Fish-Off with their come from behind tournament victory over collegiate anglers from the University of Arkansas.

Chris Logan, of Cat Spring, Texas, and Emil Reznicek, of Sealy, Texas, weighed in a two-redfish limit that totaled 16.69 pounds to win the IFA Redfish Tour event at Corpus Christi, Texas, on September 3.

Clint Barghi, of Friendswood, Texas, caught a redfish and speckled sea trout that measure a combined 51.75 inches in length to the win the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing event at Corpus Christi, Texas, on September 4.

The first annual Ranger Cup University Challenge took place on Choke Canyon Reservoir on August 25th and 26th. Two teams of collegiate anglers qualified for the event based on their participation in the Ranger Cup University program during 2011.
