Moments before this alert was to go out (1/13/12), a federal district court in Washington, D.C. issued a ruling upholding an Obama administration policy that requires federally licensed firearms retailers in states bordering Mexico to report multiple sales of semi-automatic rifles. 

Today, during consideration of the FY 2012 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill, pro-gun U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) offered an amendment to prohibit the use of funds for a new and unauthorized multiple sales reporting plan proposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Amendment was passed by a vote of 25-16.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry, calls the 3.6 percent rise in paid hunting license holders for 2009 one of the most encouraging signs for hunting in recent years.

The groups leading the charge to ban traditional ammunition in the United States are continuing efforts to secure the ban despite being blocked by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) -- the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry -- urges you to contact the Environmental Protection Agency to oppose a petition filed August 3 by the extremist Center for Biological Diversity to ban traditional ammunition. Your right to choose the ammunition you hunt and shoot with is at stake.

A recent poll conducted by a well known research firm indicates that access to hunting land is an important issue to many sportsmen and that restriction on private land in particular is having a negative impact on the amount of time spent in the field.

A little more than five years ago, Whitetails Unlimited officially announced its support for the National Archery in the Schools Program. Since then more than $80,000 has been expended by WTU on local grassroots activities in support of the program across the country.
