trespassers and poachers

Summary:

Last year we had some real problems with poachers. We had a lot of oil field workers on our place and had 3 of our cameras raided at the feeders and the chips were removed and broken and dropped on the ground. also found a number of places where deer were gutted at our feeders. Land owner said he would look into it, but nothing ever happened.

Buck PakLite Skinner

http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?event=product.detail&productID=3769

I own the Buck OakLite Skinner and carry it for daily use.  It was purchased from Academy for $19.95 plus sales tax during last deer hunting season.  It's 420 Rockwell hardness, hollow ground and holds an edge fairly well.  I use a Smith's 6" diamond sharpener to sharpen it and can shave with it after sharpening.  I find the rounded tip is excellent for skinning.  Buck also has the longer blade version just below.

Buck PakLite Skinner Large

The web site below sells most name brand knives at a discounted price and usually prepays shipping.  I've purchased rrom them and received excellent service.

new deer hunter questions - please help

Summary:

The cart will work, but it is something else to carry with you. Another way of taking a deer out, is to get a piece of very heavy canvas. Best place to find it would probably be a military surplus store. Cut it about 2' by 6'. Sew a strong grommet at each corner. Fold it as small as possible and place it in your pack. When you shoot a deer, tag it and field dress it. Then tie the deer on top of the canvas with the head forward. Use a short length of rope tied to the two front grommets and the head to pull it. You want to have the front slightly off of the ground so that it will slide over obstacles easier. Sounds harder than it is. I have used this successfully when I was hunting in areas without vehicular access.

Hog or deer best for beginner Hunter

Summary:

Thank you for the advice. The big question is what do you do if the field dressing goes bad on a hog? I have been watching videos on youtube but some tips would help out a lot.

Thank you

2011 Wild Hog Roundup Underway!!! 86 killed so far!

Summary:

I went out Friday night with a group for my first Thermal hog hunt.   Double Drop Hunts  http://www.doubledrophunts.com I have hunted before with night vision and been fairly successful if hogs were around to shoot at. But this night we were very lucky. We watched from a fence line downwind from a field and a large Oak tree where bait had been put out. At the time I was not feeling overly optimistic because it seemed too open a field. But after waiting for 40 minutes one of the guys whispers that he sees movement. And one after another hogs start coming into the field. There had to be at least 60 70 hogs. We were instructed to shoot on the count of 3. All the guns were suppressed and some had Thermal and others had night vision.
In Short order we had 9 hogs down. This was a rush and I really enjoyed the hunt.

Fearless Leadership

Fearless Leadership
Summary:

All I know is that a lot of good friends from the oil field back home and along the rest of the gulf coast are hurting now because the crakheads and welfare queens want more of our hard earned money.  Meanwhile, most of the sheeple are drinking their kool-aide and watching f&%king American Idol.

I lived through the gas lines and the unemployment of the Carter administration.  He was an idiot, but Dear Leader is obviously a traitor.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!!!
