With a little rest and rejuvenation under this girl's rhinestone-studded belt, Janet Parker is excited and geared up for the 2012 tournament season. The first event in the Bass Pro Shops' Bassmaster Central Opens is slated for this week on Lake Lewisville in Texas-Parker's home waters.

JJ Ducharme of Brackettville, Texas, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 23 pounds Saturday to win the EverStart Series Texas Division on Lake Amistad with a three-day total of 15 bass weighing 63 pounds. For his victory, Ducharme earned $35,000.

Priority registration for the Pro Division begins Monday, Feb. 6, for the 2012 Bass Pro Shops PAA Tournament Series, which features reduced entry fees and the addition of a Co-Angler Division.

Lamar University's Danny Iles, Hemphill, Texas, and Justin Royal, Vidor, Texas won the National Guard FLW College Fishing South Conference event on Lake Amistad Saturday with five bass weighing 21 pounds, 11 ounces. The victory earned the team $5,000. The win also helped them advance to the South Conference Regional Championship.

The Association of Collegiate Anglers has opened registration for the 2012 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship, historically the nation's largest collegiate bass fishing competition.

Eighteen teams featuring some of the top pros in the sport are competing in the PAA's season-opening event. The full field will compete all three days, with more than $100,000 in cash and prizes at stake, including a Nitro Z-8 with a Mercury 225 Optimax and T-H Marine Atlas jackplate, Nitro Z-7 with a Mercury Pro XS, and MinnKota Talon shallow water anchors for the big bass winners. Also at stake are points toward the PAA Angler of the Year title and qualification for the Toyota Texas Bass Classic world championship in September on Lake Conroe.

Dates for the highly-anticipated return of the Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC), the world championship of professional bass fishing and country music festival, were announced today with all of the action set to begin Friday, Sept. 28.

Texas tournament anglers will have even more opportunities to cash in on the 2012 season with the launch of the all-new Texas Team Trail. The tournament circuit, designed exclusively for team competition, will begin March 10th, 2012 and will include a total of 4 qualifying events, plus a year-end Championship.

Reel Recovery, a national non-profit organization serving men with cancer, will be conducting a Texas Fly Fishing Retreat for Men with Cancer at Joshua Creek Ranch in Boerne, Texas. The Retreat will be held November 6-8, 2011 and will serve men from the area who are in treatment for, or recovery from all forms of cancer.

Registration for anglers wishing to compete in the 2012 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens will take place during the month of November.
