ESPN Outdoors announces that Jose Wejebe, who has hosted Spanish Fly on ESPN2 for 13 years, will host the ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Series television coverage on ESPN2. The Sunday morning shows, which will chronicle the six stand-alone, world-class events, will begin in April 2009. The ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Series will kick off September 5-7 with the Southernmost Light-Tackle Anglers Masters (S.L.A.M.) tournament in Key West, Florida.

Field & Stream Magazine, the world's largest and best known outdoor publication has announced the 16 talented anglers, hunters and marksmen who each earned a spot in the magazine's fifth-annual Total Outdoorsman Challenge National Championships, presented by partner Mobil 1. The competition, which carries a prize purse of $50,000, puts the nation's top outdoorsmen in head-to-head competition in Springfield, Missouri, Sept. 12-14. The 16 competitors were culled from thousands of outdoorsmen and -women who competed at a series of 24 local and six regional events held at Bass Pro Shops across the nation this past spring and summer.

The 2009 Bassmaster Opens, comprised of three qualifying series in a Southern, Central and revamped Northern division, each with three events, will visit diverse and productive fisheries for a total of nine events in Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Louisiana and Texas, BASS announced today.

The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC), a unique team angling competition featuring the top professional anglers in the world, will be held at Lake Conroe, Texas in 2009. It will take place over Memorial Day weekend, May 22 - 24 and will adhere to strict slot limits that set it apart from other events. The event will benefit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and its outdoor recreation programs.

The nation's best practical shooters will be gathering in Tulsa, Oklahoma this week for the USPSA National Handgun Championships. The event begins with the Smith & Wesson Limited, Production and Revolver Championships.
