Lake Lavon FishingSummary: This site is dedicated to educating anglers on Lake Lavon. There are tips, fishing forum, reports, maps, along with tons of info on Lake Lavon.
Lake Lavon is located in North Texas less than 5 miles northeast of Wylie, Texas in Collin County. The lake, which covers approximately 21,400 acres, was originally impounded in 1953. Lake Lavon boasts a wide variety of fish including largemouth bass, sand bass, crappie, channel catfish, blue catfish and flathead catfish, along with many varieties of sunfish. With recent restocking of striped bass by Texas Parks & Wildlife, look for these fish to become legal size within the next few years. While there is very little aquatic vegetation on Lake Lavon, the northern ends of both arms of Lake Lavon are heavily timbered and often hold both crappie and catfish in good numbers. Other hot spots on the lake include the power plant warm water output next to Little Ridge Park and the island located off of Clear Lake Park. There are a total of 16 boat ramp facilities on Lake Lavon, of which 8 have courtesy docks. Some boat ramps are only open seasonally so check with the US Army Corp of Engineers for park availability. Many boat ramps are available at no charge while some charge small launch fees. An annual pass may be purchased which will allow you free access to all pay ramps with the exception of Collin Park which is privately owned. |
