A full day of park activities and interpretive programs as well as a midday ceremony are scheduled to commemorate the upcoming 25th anniversary celebration of Brazos Bend State Park on Saturday, April 4, at this popular park in Southeast Texas, located less than an hour’s drive from Houston’s southwest side.

The trumpeting sound of cranes overhead is a cherished sound of spring in Texas, but as endangered whooping cranes depart Texas this spring en route for breeding grounds in Canada, fewer birds will be making the trip.

The Texas Wildlife Association is providing input and expertise to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in the rewrite of the agency's 2005 Land and Water Resources Conservation and Recreation Plan (Land and Water Plan).

This fun event is perfect for all skill levels – from the beginning birdwatcher to the avid lister, from those who like to drive long distances to see the whole coast to those who’d rather pull up a camping chair and bird in one place for a few hours with good friends. We have a variety of events to tickle your fancy – one-day events, tailgate birding (the Big Sit!) and our biggest event, the weeklong tournament. There are events for youth, teens, adults and even all-ages tournaments.

Texans today can thank farmers, ranchers, land managers and others across the state during National Ag Week (March 15-21) for their conservation efforts in protecting and improving soil, water and air quality, plant and wildlife habitats.
