Search Results:TPWD Offers Grants To Support Texas Wildlife Action PlanSummary: The Texas Wildlife Action Plan is a proactive strategy to keep common species common. It focuses mainly on “nongame” wildlife, animals that are not hunted or fished, including some that are not yet rare but could become so if proactive steps are not taken soon. Each year, threatened and endangered species receive funding through the Endangered Species Act and game animals receive support through hunter dollars spent on licenses, firearms, and ammunition.

Consumption Advisory Issued for Spotted Seatrout from Galveston Bay

The Texas Department of State Health Services today advised limiting consumption of spotted seatrout (commonly called "speckled trout") and all species of catfish from Galveston Bay because of concerns about chemicals known as PCBs and dioxins.
