Members of the Lake Fork Sportsman’s Association (LFSA) partnered with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Inland Fisheries Division staff in making fish habitat improvements at Lake Fork on November 30.

The slogan of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is “Life’s Better Outside,” and department staff will show visitors to the Toyota Texas Bass Classic in Conroe October 28—30 why that’s so.

Largemouth bass weighing 13 pounds or more are rare. Only 523 have been entered into the Toyota ShareLunker program in the last 25 years.

The Toyota Texas Bass Classic ShareLunker Club Tournament is set to get started on Lake Conroe on October 1. The amateur tournament will run October 1-21 and gives members the opportunity to fish for $100,000. There are still tournament memberships available for anyone interested in competing.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Inland Fisheries staff has partnered with the Texas Bowfishing Association (TBA) and the Texas BASS Federation Nation (TBFN) to conduct a grass carp removal tournament on Lake Conroe Saturday and Sunday July 9 and 10.

Entries from Lake Fork into the Toyota ShareLunker Program have been overshadowed recently by reservoirs in other areas of the state, but the Lake Fork Trophy Bass Survey’s eight-year history shows that Lake Fork should remain on the list of any serious trophy bass hunter.

The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center’s annual Bluegill Family Fishing Tournament awarded about $3,000 in donated prizes to winners Saturday.  The tournament awards prizes for the heaviest stringers of sunfish and for the biggest sunfish. Prize packages went to the top 10 teams in addition to the big fish award.

The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center’s annual Bluegill Family Fishing Tournament will take place this year on Saturday, September 25.  The tournament awards prizes for the heaviest stringers of sunfish, but the event is really about adults and children having fun fishing together.  Numerous prize packages will be awarded, including an X-Box 360 with game, fishing equipment and gift cards from local businesses.
