The field is set for the 2008 BoatU.S. National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship (NCBFC), with 106 two-person teams representing 57 schools from 23 states registered to participate. The full-field enrollment makes it the largest college bass tournament ever held.

The Louisiana/Texas Division of the $8.8 million Walmart Bass Fishing League® will visit Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Jasper, Texas, September 20-21 for its final regular-season event. Boater Ronnie Bickham of New Boston, Texas, won the Walmart Bass Fishing League Louisiana/Texas Division Super Tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 37 pounds, 4 ounces. The victory earned Bickham $4,678.

John True of Dallas kicked off the 2008-2009 Budweiser ShareLunker season October 3 with a 13.38-pound largemouth bass from a private lake in Rusk County.

The pros in the October 30-November 1 Bassmaster Central Open season finale on Lake Texoma out of Denison, Texas, will be fishing for points as well as for pounds.

The 28-year-old from Alabaster, Albama, boated a limit weighing 5 pounds, 2 ounces, on Arkansas' Lake Hamilton, which put her in seventh place at the tournament and helped her maintain the lead in the Toyota Tundra Women's Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year standings -- at least through Day One.
