The Louisiana/Texas Division of the $8.8 million Walmart Bass Fishing League® will visit Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Jasper, Texas, September 20-21 for its final regular-season event. As many as 200 boaters and 200 co-anglers are expected to compete in the tournament, which will award as much as $67,500 in cash, including a top award of $9,000 in the Boater Division.

BASS announces that, in 2009, the Women's Bassmaster Tour presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors will visit fisheries in Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee for its four regular-season events. Building on its landmark announcement before this past season, the circuit will continue to provide a direct qualifying berth into bass fishing's premier event, the Bassmaster Classic.

The BoatU.S. Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water has a great way for your local non-profit boating organization to help keep our waterways safe - but time is running out. The Foundation's Boating Safety Grant program offers individual grants of up to $4,000 for boating safety projects. However, to have a chance at funding organizations need to apply by the November 1, 2008 deadline. A total of $50,000 is available for this campaign.

Boater Ronnie Bickham of New Boston, Texas, won the Walmart Bass Fishing League Louisiana/Texas Division Super Tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 37 pounds, 4 ounces. The victory earned Bickham $4,678.

The pros in the October 30-November 1 Bassmaster Central Open season finale on Lake Texoma out of Denison, Texas, will be fishing for points as well as for pounds.

The 1971 Classic champ, Bobby Murray, will present the trophy October 25 to the 2008 Toyota Tundra Women's Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year. The AOY will qualify for the 2009 Bassmaster Classic, February 20-22 on the Red River out of Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana, becoming the first female Classic contender.

Kim Bain has been to the Bassmaster Classic as a spectator and an ESPN2 analyst and now in four months, the Alabaster, Alabama pro will attend the Classic as the first woman competitor in its 39-year history.

Boater Dicky Newberry of Houston, Texas, earned a fully rigged Ranger 198VX and a new Chevy truck Saturday as the winner of the Walmart Bass Fishing League Regional Championship on Lake Ouachita in Mount Ida, Arkansas. The top 40 boaters and the top 40 co-anglers from the Cowboy, Louisiana/Texas, Okie and Ozark divisions competed in the three-day event.

Boat trouble in the morning lead to a productive afternoon for Terry Butcher of Talala, Oklahoma, as the Bassmaster Elite Series pro took a commanding lead Thursday on Day One of the Bassmaster Central Open, the final Central Open division event of the season, on Lake Texoma. Butcher's five-fish limit of 17 pounds, 1 ounce, topped his closest challenger, Paul Ferguson of White House, Texas, by more than 2 pounds.

Michael Burns of Plano, Texas, and Bassmaster Elite Series pros Rick Clunn of Ava, Missouri, and Jami Fralick of Martin, South Dajita, qualified Saturday for the 2009 Bassmaster Classic through the Bassmaster Central Open circuit.
