Summary: Every time I see evidence of beaver chewing my uncle's retirement fund (he planted pine trees 10 years ago on some acreage in east texas), I am amazed at how "human" it looks. If we had dropped 10,000 beaver into New Orleans they would have repairs the levies in a week.

Summary: A Yellow Garden Spider preparing to consume a Green Caterpillar at our house in East Texas. Although it looks like the film is on fast forward, it is real time. The spider moves that fast!

Summary: How often do you get so close to a black widow that you can see the thread coming out of the back end. Spring Break is a great time to hike and take photos - not deer season - not too hot.

Summary: Finally my children got to see a Pronghorn Antelope in the wild while driving home from Santa Fe, NM. I am always surprised by how many people don't recognize the animal, don't think it is native, and of course are shocked to learn it is the 2nd fastest land animal.

Summary: I am told... This Elk was killed with a bow in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. He green scored 575" and should net out at about 530" non typical. He has an unbelievable outside spread of 79". This is the biggest bull ever taken with any weapon.

Summary: I have been enjoying walking ranches this spring. Anybody have an idea of what type of snake this is? It didn't have a rattle that I could see. I got up pretty close to it with my point-and-shoot camera and it didn't coil and bite me on the nose, but someone told me it is a type of rattlesnake. I don't think so.

Summary: I love the "surprise" factor of free range habitat. I watch every deer all year and have never seen this buck before. If only he shows himself in daylight.
