Search Results:Opening Day Dove Hunt with Green's Outfitter's
Summary:
From our first time to learn about this Dove Lease from TexasHuntFish.com Member, Matt Bell, I could tell from his email this would be a great group of people to get to know. I hope you enjoy Matt's description of "WHAT IS DOVE HUNTING" below... written by Matt Bell, 7/24/07: Never hunted doves before? Here, in a nutshell, is how it goes: camp out with a bunch of good guys, telling and hearing semi-truthful stories; wake up before dawn. Set up along the edge of a field filled with sunflowers and other attractive food sources, waiting comfortably in a chair and watching the skies. Then, as dawn breaks, see hundreds of dove zoom in to feed. Try to shoot these mini-F16s as they rocket around. Hear your buddies cheer when you connect and jeer when you miss (last year we had a hit to miss ratio of about 1:20, even if you count Paul's double on a pair of sparrows found guilty of impersonating a game bird). Break for lunch, then return before dusk and repeat. That evening grill dove breast nuggets wrapped in bacon and enjoy sitting around camp telling and hearing more semi-truthful stories. Dove hunting is second only to deer hunting in popularity among TX hunters -- come find out why! The dove lease for 2007 is $200 for a season pass, providing assigned fields for the first two weeks followed by season long access to all fields. Season pass holders can bring one guest on one trip, but not until after the first two weeks are over. Young kids can hunt with a pass holder for free. The lease, which consists of about a half-dozen fields in Young and Throckmorton Counties (NW of the metroplex), is operated by George "Puddin'" Green. George says the fields are looking very good given the heavy rainfalls this year, so the season looks promising. As always, there is a chance that a cold front or rain on the opening weekend will dampen the action, but even with last year's drought we had a fairly good opening day. Season opens September 1st, hunting dove requires a hunting license with migratory bird stamp (I'll check all the new regulations in August to verify no changes), and the bag limit is 15 birds per day, assuming you can ever hit those little suckers. If you would like to join us but don't have a shotgun, we can probably find one for you to borrow. Oasis Outback 2007 Dove Hunting Expo & Texas Whitetail Classic
Summary:
I just got this email from Brad Farr, Public Relations/Marketing for OASIS OUTBACK that he sent out to the sponsors of this years Dove Expo, educating people about the upcoming Hunting Expo. Although Thanksgiving Weekend means I will be in East Texas at our family farm, it I wasn't, I would be at the Oasis Outback. Put it on your calendar if you live in the area. Written by Brad Farr: WOW!!!! What a great turn-out. We hope that you had a great time and feel that these Expo's are worth your continued support. If you can offer any suggestions or ideas to help us get better at these events, please feel free to phone or email me. I am always looking for new ideas to increase our attendance. I also wanted to take this time to invite you to participate in our next Expo, as most of you know, this will be our 3rd Annual Hunting Expo. This Expo is November 24th, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We expect the attendance to grow from last years 4000 people. This Expo is a fun event with more for the entire family. More games, prize give aways, music, celebrities, helicopter rides and people! This is a great opportunity to show our appreciation to the hunter and the outdoorsman. We would love to count on your continued support. It takes two things to put these events on, your valued participation and money. As you know, advertising and marketing these expo's, is the largest cost we incur. We would like to ask you to consider, if you can, a sponsorship roll in our November Expo. As a sponsor you will help increase our advertising to reach thousands more customers. Through radio, T.V., print, Internet, direct mail, flyers and billboards. As a title sponsor, your company will receive top promotional billing on all forms of advertising. We will tag all radio spots with " Sponsored by .......". All print ads will have company logo and tag line. You will also get banner ads on our web sites and company logo on the event T-shirt. We print 1,000 or more, depending on participation, to give away during the event. On these shirts, we place 8 to 10 sponsors logo's. We will also place your companies banners inside the store and out front prominently for all to see. We also have a weekly radio show, the Oasis Outback Outdoor Show, that airs Saturday mornings at 10am on KVOU 104.9 FM. Every week the show reaches 11,000 listeners. As a title sponsor we can broadcast an entire show on your companies product. We will also place your companies logo as a title sponsor on all tables inside the restaurant, the Oasis Outback Bar-B-Q and Grill, where we serve 2000 customers per week. The cost for a title sponsorship is $2500.00 Basic sponsorship gets you all of the above, except, radio commercial tag lines and the 30 minute radio "info-mercial". T-Shirt sponsorship gets your logo on the shirt only. We limit the number of sponsors to ensure that those sponsors don't get "lost in the crowd". Having more than 10 logo's on a shirt, would make the logo's too small to be of any real value. Please understand that these will be offered on a first come first serve basis. As we have done in the past, these dollar amounts can be "traded" out. For example, if you would like to have your company logo on the T-shirt for the $500.00, we would accept a merchandise/store credit for retail value of $500.00. Of course if you feel like you can participate in any other way, we are happy and willing to work with you in any way we can. We have set a deadline for sponsorships due to printing and advertising logistics. The deadline to participate is October 19th. If that presents a problem for any of you, please contact me so we can work things out. Let's get creative and work together to pull off another great event!! To those of you that were unable to make the event, you were truly missed and we hope we can count on you for the November Expo. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions you have. Thank you from all of us at the Oasis Outback for your continued support and participation. Sincerely, Brad L. Farr 3D Post "NO TRESPASSING"
Summary:
It is not a big deal to some. The idea as I understand from the manufacturer, is a very obvious, bright orange, easy to mount against anything. visible from 180 degrees as you approach, sign that says "NO TRESPASSING". I spoke to a Sheriff and my understanding is if someone is on your land, and you do not have the land posted according to the official "methods", then they will only be given a WARNING of Trespassing. They will not be charged with trespassing. You must have a specific sign or purple paint in plain view along the property boundary and regular intervals or the person on your land will be allowed to walk away with nothing but a warning. Bad Boy Buggies vs Trail Hog: Road Test
Summary:
Yes, I have shared the information with the CEO of both companies. The CEO of Bad Boy Buggie called me, we talked, he made some commitments regarding some of the product failures we had, but nothing came of it after several follow ups and a written letter. They are a bigger company and make bigger claims so I was hoping for a different outcome. However, I have heard through the grape vine that he did take some of my comments seriously (or you could say he was already aware of the issues) and has made efforts to improve the flaws. Although the Trail Hog did a great job, their CEO doesn't make any super-aggressive claims and basically delivered a product that does what he said it would do. Other than the weight distribution issue and super sensitive accelerator that causes the machine to "hop" when you accelerate (which could be dangerous on a hill), I wasn't really expecting a response. He did send an email this week with a "Thank you" for the time and effort put into the Road Test and video. Deer Ridge Innovations: The Gun and Bow Camera Mount
Summary:
One of the owners of DeerRidgeInnovations called me and we talked about the product. I was hoping he was going to post some videos they took using their product and give some examples of different conditions he thought were best and worst for their product. For example we discussed how great it is for filming a turkey hunt with a shotgun but how it wouldn't be that great to video a 200 yard shot on a trophy whitetail if you wanted to zoom more than 3x to really get a good picture of the moment. It looks like he tried to post something above. I hope he comes back. 3453 results found Next Page >Showing results 1 through 10
