We posted about 2 weeks ago seeking advice. Thanks to all for advice. We had a pretty good luck shooting 9 between the 3 of us this weekend. 2 of us being an 8 year old and 11 year old who cannot keep still. We ended up getting 12 mallard decoys and a mallard mojo at Academy. We sat up everything on the south end of our pond because of a strong north wind. We tore it up the 1st hour Saturday seeing between 100 and 150 ducks with several trying to land. we should have shot more than 7. we still are in the beginning stages so I am not sure what we shot. All I can say for sure is some were little and some much bigger birds. We think we shot a few scaup and black duck and a mallard hen. We tried to call alittle but my sons enjoy calling so we probably called too much and most ducks remained high rollers and went on past us. The evening hunt all we saw were high rollers about dark. Sunday morning it was dead still and cold and only three came low and we shot two. We saw about 150 but they ...

You might be surprised if you look around Midland. I was born and raised in the town next door Odessa . I know there s not allot of water around, but what little there is attracts a good number of ducks for the area . Look south of i 20 for a place that Monahans draw runs through a property then contact that landowner. Here s my duck hole in Midland on the draw family land, not for lease unfortunately .

Gulf Coast

I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast and there are many hunting opportunities, it really depends on what you got you heart set on, Duck hunting, hog hunting, deer hunting, Geese Hunting, and what price range you are willing to pay If it were me, i would do a cast and blast ducks and reds trout either in Rockport or further down south in the Laguna Madre. But I would not count out researching some great deer or hog hunts on the Guld Coast that can be very special, the South Texas brush is just amazing on some of the coastal areas. And if you don t have any success in the field with a riffle, get out the old fishing pole and try your luck at some fine saltwater species, winter time there can be some great fishing to be had
