This was put out by the guy who owns Front Site Firearms Training Institute....... As you know, there are a number of organizations that have conducted marches and events to send a clear message to our government that the Silent Majority in this country are more than unhappy with the direction America is heading. The discontent has no party lines. We are disillusioned with and distrustful of politicians in general and that includes Democrats and Republicans. Basically, we are tired of the Constitution and Bill of Rights being ignored, our freedoms trampled, and those we elect continuing to forget who they are supposed to serve... WE THE PEOPLE. As you are well aware the, Tea Party Movement is holding numerous rallies in cities across the country through April 15th. The Second Amendment March on Washington, DC is happening on April 19. These are great events that will attract a significant amount of people attending, but there is no way that the Silent Majority will be properly...

I hunt with a bow and have shot two hogs this year that I didn t find. Both shots looked to be good shots but I followed blood of both for several hundred yards before it rained and dark set in. Does anyone have any Hog Anatomy diagrams they could pass along. I saw one on the internet and according to it my shots were in the lung area. Thanks for any response guys.

Class Act

Class Act .... The doctor had his TV on in his office when the news of the military base shootings came on. The husband of one of his employees was stationed there. He called her into his office and as he told her what had happened, she got a text message from her husband saying, I am okay. Her cell phone rang right after she read the message. It was an ER nurse, I m the one who just sent you a text, not your husband. I thought it would be comforting but I was mistaken in doing so. I am sorry to tell you this, but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery. The soldier s wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan, AL and drove all night to Ft. Hood. When she arrived, she found out her husband was out of surgery and would be OK. She rushed to his room and found that he already had visitors there to comfort him. He was just waking up and found his wife and the visitors by his side The nurse took this picture. What No news crews and cameras This is how...

Hornady Releases Superperformance 308 Win Match Cartridge

Hornady unveils the next generation of match ammunition the Superformance 308 Win 178 gr BTHP Match. Achieving 2,775 feet per second from a SAAMI spec 24 test barrel, this new load is approximately 175 fps FASTER than any comparable commercial load available today Topped with the NEW 178 gr BTHP Match bullet featuring a .530 ballistic coefficient, this Superformance offering provides industry leading ballistic performance. The new 178 grain BTHP Match bullet was purpose built, and optimized specifically for the 308 Winchester chamber. It features an aggressive ogive as well as an extremely efficient boat tail that makes this projectile highly effective aerodynamically, yield less wind drift and allows the shooter to obtain flatter trajectories. Accuracy results were excellent. We shot a .680 group at 200 yards with our test equipment, and field tests out to 1250 yards yielded 8 inch, not 8 MOA, but 8 inch total circumferential groups.
Tips on How to Safetly Introduce Children to Firearms

My five year old daughter had been eyeballing the long, rectangular package under the Christmas tree all morning. So when she was finally able to start shredding the wrapping paper that covered it and saw the pink Daisy BB gun on the box cover, she was excitedly shocked. Weird enough, I saw the same expression on the faces of several friends and co workers when I told them that my daughter would be getting a gun for Christmas. Their comments were all very similar Why would you give your kid a gun The word gun has become a lightning rod in today s popular culture. School shootings, office killing sprees, and hunting accidents have driven most non hunting families to question whether guns are needed at all on a recreational basis. Safety is a primary concern for anyone who owns a gun and is the main reason why I wanted my daughter to start learning how to responsibly own and handle a firearm at a young age. I can also currently control her access to firearms in my own home, a...

The Mountain Lion and The Hound Dog

Story and pictures were sent to me in an email today... Pictures are of Troy Cunningham with the Mt. Lion he killed with the help of his one hound who is in the other pictures after he got home from surgery at the Vet. They were just sitting down to dinner when this Lion walked past the window, so Troy went out and threw sticks and snowballs at it to run it off. This Lion was very bold and not the least bit concerned about the stuff that Troy was throwing at it, so he went to the kennel and let his Lion hound out. After a short run of about 75 yards the Lion stopped to fight, when Troy got there with his Bow the Lion had his hounds head in it mouth so Troy shot it which freed his hound who immediately started chewing on the Lion. Take it for what it s worth. That s one big Mt. Lion and was sound looking dog.

Choosing a fly line challenging, but necessary

Choosing a new fly line can be a challenging job when you consider all of the options. The fly line is that piece of gear that we all take for granted. It is the one thing that can actually improve your casting. For this article, I am going to limit my discussion to floating lines designed for use in fresh water. Back in the day, when everyone fished with bamboo rods, the fly line of choice was made of silk. They had to be dressed with a waterproofing paste before each use. These lines were tapered at each end the taper allowed for a delicate presentation . After fishing the line for a few hours, it began to absorb water would start to sink. The angler would remove the line from the reel and turn it around. He would then fish the dry half for the remainder of the day. Of course, the line would have to be carefully dried before being stored. These lines are still available for 150 to 175 I actually have one for my bamboo rod . Cortland now manufactures a direct copy of the silk l...

TPWD to Wrap up Dove Lethality Study

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials are content with the 1,360 birds collected during two years of field research comparing lead and non lead ammunition effectiveness for doves. Public concern about the incidence of lead in the environment is growing. This issue has been discussed by the Central Flyway for the past five years. It is conceivable that non lead shot requirements could be proposed for the hunting of all migratory game birds, including doves at some future date. This could have considerable impact in Texas, which boasts the nation s largest dove population at an estimated 20 25 million breeding birds and a rich hunting tradition that sees from 300,000 to 350,000 hunters take to the field each fall. Texas hunters harvest about 6.4 million doves annually or roughly 30 percent of all doves taken nationally. There is also an economic consideration. Based on a 2005 survey conducted for the U. S. Census Bureau and the...
