This took place during at Ortegon Ranch in Concho County Texas on Dec 12, 2010. In the video we estimated 300 yards according to a nearby feeder but found that is was actually a 350 yard shot with a Savage 30 06 rifle assisted with a high power Nikon scope. This Rio Grande turkey was immediately tagged and cleaned for some good eating Thanks for watching

I ve been thinking about this proposed regulation that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is considering allow hunters to use silencers and sound suppressors on rifles to hunt deer. I m not sure how I feel about it. I already use a silenced firearm for whitetails. It s called a bow. The real discussion is about rifles altered so that the sound is mostly silenced or suppressed. None of the silencers I m familiar with are totally silent. And all of them compromise the speed and power of the bullet. When you fire a rifle, the bullet leaves the barrel at something in excess of 1,100 feet per second faster than the speed of sound. That crack you hear is basically a small sonic boom. To eliminate that portion of the noise, the velocity of the bullet has to be reduced within the gun, and that impacts the hunter s effective range. It s a matter of physics. The proposal that Texas Parks and Wildlife commissioners have sent to the Texas Register for public comment actu...

Its the second night for hunting with HogChaser85, We ve killed 2 hogs so far and as the sun goes down, several pocket pigs, several sows and a boar come wandering in. There are branches in the way of shooting these feral hogs so we watch them for about 6 minutes before shooting. I drop one with a head shot, Chase s rifle miss fires, I shoot a second one on the run and drop her, then we both shoot again and miss. We had our Destroyer Hog Lights ready but these wild pigs came in while it was still fairly light. We took a bit getting down there so it was dark by then. Check out the Hog Hunting Action Y all Enjoy

Heli hogin

Hope it is not a repeat. But this is some serious hog huntin This Texas feral hog shooting chopper High Def. video is fascinating. The pilot has a fixed rifle sounds like a 270 with optics rigged back to his helmet and eye piece. He doesn t miss and his scout chopper flying skills are down pat with the hogs behavior and pack or group running style. This came from Greg Cooper who has a huge ranch SE of Brownfield, Texas...south of Lubbock. I don t know where the chopper hog hunting op is but it is clearly West Texas. This is a long run video but the hogs get it I don t see them dropping flags or stakes from the air to ground mark their kills so as to go find them easily but I assume they know the country or wait for the turkey buzzards to tip them off. The pilot is very good http www.vimeo.com 21181307

Rifle Scopes

Hey guys, Ime looking for a higher powered scope sometime after Xmas. Ive kinda narrowed it down to these brands. Nikon, Alpen, Burris and Leupold. Im looking for something in the 4x12x40 to 4x16x50 range, something in that category. Their are lots of options with in these brands. Im looking to spend no more than 400 and Ill probably use ebay to buy it as I have found several VXIII Leupolds on there for around 400 bucks. But what do you think about the Nikon Monarch scopes, I like the BDC recticle. The Alpen scopes get good reviews and the Burris seem to be pretty affordable quality as well. Thanks in advance guys, if you know of something Im overlooking let me know Ill tell you straight up, I cant affored Swaroski, Khales or Zeiss, although I wish I could SO please dont tell me Im dumb for buying something other than those. Im tired of hearing that for those with unlimited bedgets, no kids and no wife Unfortunately I have all 3 Thanks DannyG
