This took place during at Ortegon Ranch in Concho County Texas on Dec 12, 2010. In the video we estimated 300 yards according to a nearby feeder but found that is was actually a 350 yard shot with a Savage 30 06 rifle assisted with a high power Nikon scope. This Rio Grande turkey was immediately tagged and cleaned for some good eating Thanks for watching

Does Hunting Deer With A Silencer Matter To You

I ve been thinking about this proposed regulation that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is considering allow hunters to use silencers and sound suppressors on rifles to hunt deer. I m not sure how I feel about it. I already use a silenced firearm for whitetails. It s called a bow. The real discussion is about rifles altered so that the sound is mostly silenced or suppressed. None of the silencers I m familiar with are totally silent. And all of them compromise the speed and power of the bullet. When you fire a rifle, the bullet leaves the barrel at something in excess of 1,100 feet per second faster than the speed of sound. That crack you hear is basically a small sonic boom. To eliminate that portion of the noise, the velocity of the bullet has to be reduced within the gun, and that impacts the hunter s effective range. It s a matter of physics. The proposal that Texas Parks and Wildlife commissioners have sent to the Texas Register for public comment actu...

greetings Texas hunters, my name is terry and i am from Texas. thanks for letting me post. i would like to post some on CWD. i have been studying this TSE agent for almost a decade, since the death of my mother to the hvCJD, confirmed. first off, about mad cow disease s as a whole as i call them, we have been lied to for a long time about that. most of it is all political of course, what i call the, God save the industry at all cost mentality, including public health. now i know some will not like what i post, i don t like it either, but these are the facts. cwd transmits in several ways, animal protein feeding is one of them, and new studies are showing that our fears of transmission via salvia and blood and other body fluids are a real threat as well. now some get angry when i start speaking of urine, and i really don t care how much urine or feces one spreads on themselves to get a big buck, but these are the facts as i have come to know them, and i thought some here might w...

Dusty had a good first turkey hunt and broke in the new Mossberg Turkey Thug on a nice tom. It was a windy day but we managed to get a response out of a real nice bird. Dusty was pretty jacked up as you can tell by his reaction. We used a box call to get the first response and switched to a slate when he got in closer. It was a good start to the spring and hopefully we will get another one on video. Songs are Rhett Akins Opening Day and Aaron Lewis Country Boy

Hi, my name is Brian Cluff and I stumbled across this site the other day. I raise and train German Shorthairs and English Pointers as a hobby. I am not a dog breeder. I have however gone to great lengths to find dogs with the right bloodlines and qualities from across the nation. The qualities that I think are important for a dog to have naturally and be able to develop are bidability, an awesome nose, style, stamina, and a willingness to retrieve. Occasionally I will have finished dogs for sale as I bring in new pups and try out different bloodlines. Duke I bought Duke as a puppy and he was the pick of the litter. He has turned out to be a very stylish and classy gundog. He is a Honky Tonk Attitude grandson and has a strong influence of Elhew Strike on his dams side. He is a natural retriever with a soft mouth and has a cannon for a nose He also has some of the HTA style and head crank Duke has been hunted for two seasons on Gambles, Scaled, and Mearns quail. He h...

Hi everyone, New to Denton area, been here a little over a year. Have been training down at Quail Creek. I am a member of the Club. Have military background. You find that I am what I call semi retired. I have a new friend here at RR, and we would like to put together a little hog hunt. Basically we are flexable, but don t want to spend a lot of money either. We can hunt days or nights or a little of both. I use .308, .223, AK 47, and 30 30. I have most basic equipment, but just do not know the area or where to go...... I have taken 2 and a half Defense classes in the last few weeks, and have done a little hunting over the years, but not the big wild animal or game hunter, but safe to go out with..... We would like to hunt near Denton, but can drive to where they are too. We don t have hunting dogs.... At this point, since it is getting close to Christmas, we could go out after, or a quickly, and both. I try to add to my equipment twice a month. When I came to Dent...
