Quail Hunts

The Texas Panhandle offers excellent quail habitat and some of the best quail hunting in the state of Texas. We have had excellent rains in the spring and early summer so we are expecting great numbers of quail this year. On our 3 day guided quail hunt you will see between 12 and 20 coveys per day. We have more than 200,000 acres of prime quail habitat which enables us to rotate fields throughout the season. You will hunt behind trained English Pointers and Brittany Spaniels in the field. The majority of the quail hunt will be spent walking in the fields so we recommend being in top physical shape for your hunt, and we can also customize your hunt to allow hunting from ATV s or Jeeps to fit the physical needs of each hunter.

Texas Blue Quail Hunting

Texas Blue Quail Hunting offers wild Blue Quail Hunting in West Texas. Hunts are conducted by ATV s Kawasaki Mules or Polaris Rangers on only wild birds we drive the roads and spot covies feeding then exit the hunting vehicle and either turn out a couple of English Pointers or just hunt them by sight. Then we put down a retriever and gather up the blue quail after the covey rise. The Blue Quail are numerous in West Texas an average day will be 25 35 covies and the covies are big with 20 30 birds per covey. We usually hunt three to four hours in the morning and three to four hours in the evening. The landscape is typical West Texas Desert country with lots of thorns and brush but with a good mix of hills and draws. The ranch we are hunting is very large 120,000 acres, 180 sections or 180 square miles. With that in mind there is no way to over hunt the ranch it is simply too large to cover in one season. We are seeing great numbers of birds right now they are all pared up and breed...

Hunting leases like this one rarely come available. The well known Harrell Ranch, originally settled by pioneer Charles Goodnight, is 28,000 acres of wildlife paradise situated in the Texas Panhandle, some 20 miles southwest of Claude, not far from Amarillo. This property has not been hunted the last two years but the Harrell family recently decided to offer this special place to the right group of hunters. Available Game Mule deer, whitetail deer, Rio Grande wild turkey, bobwhite and blue quail, free range aoudad sheep, wild hogs, dove, waterfowl, and varmints. This variety of game is rarely found at one location and makes this an especially unique hunting property. Big desert mule deer are the premier animal here and the Harrell Ranch has a reputation of producing some of the finest Panhandle mule deer, including a 198 monster a few years ago. A recent tour of the ranch by WSI owner Greg Simons resulted in Simons seeing over 50 mule deer from 10 30 a.m. until 2 00 p.m...
