I just finally put my camera back up almost two weeks ago. This guy seems to be the new king of the hill he s been there every morning evening and night. I ve got over 300 pics of him. camera set to take picture every minute He was in velvet until about 4 days ago. I ve always had bucks with pretty good genetics in the area, but nothin like him before. SO just thought I d ask opinions on him. Age Score etc.

Buck contest problems.

Just posting in my other thread made me think of something we all need to press on our local establishments that hold buck contests. I think the main problem with the one I m familiar with is the way they judge the deer. They only score by measuring the spread then adding that figure to the number of points. This can work on many occasions but it is extremely flawed. I think the contests should be held on raw score. Here is my reasoning. Every year I pass on some really impressive young bucks. Had one two years ago that was a 5x5 at 2.5yo. From the pics of him I would have put him at a very impressive minimum of an 18in spread. Problem was that his entire rack had the mass about equal to a finger, right down to the bases. and that may be overstating them But you see where I m getting at. He would score well for the contest but his raw score would be a joke. I think other hunters would pass on some of these younger bucks if this were put into effect. Trust me I have no illusions that...

Heading back to the sand box.

I would appreciate any prayers you could swing my family s way. I just recieved notification Friday that I am being deployed to Iraq again in August. My wife, God bless her, is one of the strongest women I ve ever known. My mother, however, is not going to take it very well. My wife thinks I m part of a government conspiracy. She wants to know how I have managed to get deployed both times just as our children are entering the terrible twos. My son just now being 19 months will never know what happened. My daughter will turn 5 soon, I m not sure how well she ll do with it. She s a bit of a daddy s girl. Y all have seen the pics of her hunting and fishing trips with me, I just hope a year or more without getting to do much outdoors activity won t dull her interest. Any way just thought I d make this request.

A couple more pics I just pulled off the camera today. I m not sure why but my pics, when posted in here have lines all through them that are not there when viewed on my comp. Both of these bucks have shed. The four point in the first pics I posted on this thread still has one side.
